it's that easy...

Title: Where writers really get their ideas. A writer, holding a note in his outstretched hand approaches a cart in the park. The front of the cart reads 'Fresh ideas' and a colourful umbrella shades the server who is reaching deep into the body of the cart (much as an ice-cream vendor might) and saying: "I'm all out of mind-blowing concepts and heart-rending narratives, but I've got an acerbic observation, an unexpected outcome and a couple of amusing notions."

Keeping track of you

A character profile of the version of Dipper that appears in my Fetch Quest fantasy themed comics. It lists the following info: Age:? Born in: unidentified fantasy realm Breed: Corgi occupation: adventurer, hero, bone collector Skills: hands-free swordplay (and hands-free everything else) Differences from regular Dipper: sword, clothes, tail (there are arrows pointing to each of these things, as well as a little graphic of regular Dipper glaring at his absence of a tail) Greatest achievement: defeated cat Lowest low: befriended cat There are some labeled illustrations of his relationships. Another sketchbook comic. 4 panels P1: title panel. FORK + FROG. beside each word, a lil fork and a lil frog P2: The fork and frog begin to magically combine into-- P3: FORG. The frog just has the fork strapped to their back P4: Forg stands in front of a raging fire, backlit and facing us. In all lower case the text "burn it all down"

Cartoon - A couple are at a restaurant. The woman says to her partner "Darling, when did we become one of those couples who don't talk when they go out to dinner?" Her partner across the table is a mime artist pretending to sit on a chair and hold a glass of wine.

Imagine Charlie Brown, but no face. P2: The scene has now changed to a row of bushes against a blue sky. Charlie No-Face stands on the left, while another Peanuts style boy approaches from the right. The latter --smile on his face-- holds up his right hand as he says "hello, Charlie No-Face (And No-Arms)! How are you, today?" P3: A close up of Charlie No-Face, now rendered in painterly detail P4: POV (and art style) has switched back to that of the second panel. The other boy looks on in annoyed silence. P5: We are now even closer in on Charlie No-Face's horribly detailed lack of a face. P6: A dramatic low --and Dutch-- angle as the other boy with an "AUGH" turns and marches out of the scene. Charlie No-Face stands in silence in the background, a skeletal tree beside him.

My drawing hand hurts! Don't think I'll be able to draw a comic toda--" P2: APPEAR! Suddenly, a larger and far more crudely drawn version of my cartoon self appears on the right. He has a big doofy grin onhis face. Original cartoon me, in shock, says "GASP! W-who --WHAT-- are you?" P3: Via an equally crudely drawn (and written) speech bubble and text, crude cartoon me says "I'm you when you stop giving a shite about drawing well" P4: Suddenly, original cartoon me gets transformed into a crudely drawn form. The other crude self finishes on "in my imperfection I am perfect in every way"

PANEL 1: A NYX alien, a rhino-like creature with a pointed crest and a single horn on it’s nose, works on a piece of machinery. LOCATION: Du Fu NARRATION: The Nyxian understanding of “love” is vastly complicated. It is a multi-layered, nested conceit. PANEL 2: The NYX working on machinery pulls down welding goggles to block the bright white light of his welder. NARRATION: Philosophers, philologists, and cognitive linguists have spent decades trying to decode it. PANEL 3: The NYX welding is now in the background, as another NYX carries an armful of corded plugs. His eyes are furrowed and serious. NARRATION: Much like the Nyx themselves, it remains a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma. PANEL 4: The NYX carrying the corded plugs walks out a doorway, eyes furrowed. NARRATION: But the fundamental truth is this: the Nyx had come to genuinely, whole-heartedly LOVE Governor Sebastián. THE LOVED HIM. PANEL 5: We see the NYX carrying the corded plugs walk towards a window where another NYX points at what we see. Outside the window, looking in to space, hover 3 large new rings ships, in various forms of completion. These ships looks a little fish-like, with fins jutting out the top and bottom, with aztec-like architecture. Large rings stick out the end of the ship, connected by triangular architecture. Attached to the side are large dark cannons. NARRATION: And as we all know: LOVE IS THE GREATEST MOTIVATOR …. when building a fleet of revenge starships. ——— Want to read the full story?
