In 2022, we challenged the MS Supreme Court district lines that have gone unchanged for more than 35 years, because they dilute the voting strength of Black residents in State Supreme Court elections, in violation of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

60 years ago, the Voting Rights Act became law.
We honor its legacy by continuing the fight against voter suppression and protecting the right to vote in Mississippi and beyond.
The Special elections are a direct result of our lawsuit challenging Mississippi’s 2022 state legislative district maps for unlawfully diluting the voting strength of Black Mississippians. We won and now black Mississippians have a better opportunity to elect candidates of their choice!
