I've been thinking about how the Roman Empire fell around A.D. 476. It left behind many concrete structures that survive to this day. In the collapse of said empire, the method for making concrete got lost. Nearly 1,500 years would pass before we figured it out again. 

Just thinking...

I wrote my masters thesis on this topic fifteen years ago. The research was so disheartening. It has been even moreso to watch an already dismal reality erode since.
