This post feels central to the argument I've been building up that God has (learned to?) become more and more inclusive.

I had a great chat with my friends from The Northumbrian Collective. In the midst of chaos, how can we listen to the still, small voice?

Two Ways to Attend to our Imperfection One of the weirdest theological innovations of my lifetime: empathy is a sin.

I love that Bluesky doesn't throttle external links... Well, let's see if that's true!

Yesterday I posted my favourite things of last year, and a few more thoughtful things. This year I've decided to write a bit more until I run out. So today I'm starting with my song of the year. I'm not going to post every day, but if you're interested you're welcome to subscribe to my Substack!

Chuffed that my first published work in a LONG TIME is out in the wild, just in time for Christmas!

So pleased to have worked with Roy Searle and Joshua Cockayne on this, a gentle but firm gospel corrective to the 'Big is Beautiful' subtext of the current church planting orthodoxy.

To the first hearers of that story, the shocking lesson would have been exactly the opposite: that God does not need us to kill anyone, and faithfulness means not looking to violence to appease God.

To some people reading the story of Abraham and Isaac today, the shocking lesson is that God might ask us to kill someone, and faithfulness means being willing to kill.

Hey, I'm new here. Expect theology, politics, sport, media, games and self-deprecation.

I've heard good things about this place but it doesn't feel very intuitive.

How do I find my way around? How do I find my friends? How do I make new friend?
