Planning a rebellious retirement shouting about injustice, inhumanity, climate and environment and political insanity. Probably nobody will be listening.

I agree about campaign funding. But, like here in UK, I am thinking that election organisation (from printing ballot papers, voter registration to counting and administration) and oversight is probably managed by local officials?

There have been 263 UK prisoners released in error over the last year, but apparently it's only newsworthy when they happen to be a non-UK national.

Offenders are not more dangerous by virtue of being 'foreign'.

Media outlets need to stop helping the far-right poison our discourse with xenophobia.

Exactly. Right-wing media and politicians being selective about the truth as usual.

Powerful questioning from my colleague @elliechowns.bsky.social, pinning the government on exactly what it needs to do - NOW - to bring about an end to the atrocities being committed in Sudan.

Why limit the honest conversation to taxation? Surely it’s time to talk about a fundamental change of economic and social model.

The US seems to permanently be in an election cycle for some role at some level. It must be exhausting. And expensive on public funds.

A tweet from BrooklynDad_Defiant! says: β€œNo words. If you think a golden ballroom is more important than childhood cancer research... I have nothing left to say to you.” The image shows an illustration of a bald child in a hospital gown, holding an IV pole and looking into an opulent golden ballroom filled with formally dressed adults.

It’s more than just bad priorities. It’s about lack of basic decency.

Steve Bannon: Trump is "a vehicle for divine providence" & "an instrument of divine will".

British scientific institutions are having to spend huge sums on visa costs for cancer professionals they wish to attract and recruit.
The Francis Crick Institute, one of the world's leading biomedical research centres, is now spending more than Β£500,000 a year on visas for cancer scientists. Cancer Research UK institutes are spending almost Β£690,000 a year, up 44% from Β£470,000 in 2022-23.
