The Iran Conflict's Strategic Dimension Podcast Episode · Modern War Institute · March 8 · 1h 6m

Are we still doing this?!

“If we think in terms of ends, ways, and means as strategy…if means are largely US and Israeli airpower and US sea power and the ways are intelligence driven precision strikes…”

And people wonder why I’m so against EWM as strategy…

Can anyone think of an example where the weakness of the enemy was the justification for war given by American leaders?

Like “hey they look weak let’s take this opportunity to smash them!”

To the extent this is the reason for war with Iran, it seems unusual in the American experience.

For those asking why Iran’s “allies” are not lifting a finger, well I think they believe the US is weakening itself and they are fine trading Iran for a diminished United States.

Nobody really thinks the Iranian people are going to rise up for an immaculate regime change. Israel is mowing the grass and the US now committed to the that shitty shitty strategy.

It is great to see this book, expertly edited by @amosfox.bsky.social and @hoanssolo.bsky.social on the streets.
I give a simple account of the origins of the army's concept.
That is followed by great analysis from others including @heatheratacts.bsky.social @jwmeiser.bsky.social.
