11.10.2025 17:10 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0For #BCAM, know the "rule of 40s": start mammography at age 40 for 40% reduction in risk of death due to #breastcancer and easier treatments. For the 40% of women with #densebreasts, 40% of cancers are missed on mammography and adding MRI helps; US if MRI not possible. @densebreastinfo.bsky.social

Important results @densebreastinfo.bsky.social @densebreastscanada.bsky.social from UK BRAID trial. Added invasive breast cancer detection of 15/1000 for MRI, 4.2/1000 for ABUS, or 15.7 for contrast-enhanced mammography, after normal 2D mammogram in dense breasts. www.thelancet.com/journals/lan...

25.02.2025 15:53 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Alarming! We need action in π¨π¦ to ensure breast cancer can be found early. That starts with revision of national guidelines which dangerously recommend screening starting at 50. We need reform of the @cantaskforce.bsky.social panel which has no subject matter experts. news.un.org/en/story/202...
25.02.2025 06:13 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Supplemental screening in women with dense breasts is proven, via studies starting 30 years ago, to find additional cancers missed in mammography. Modalities such as ultrasound, MRI and CEM all find significant numbers of missed cancers. Tanja knew she had been denied a chance for remission.
03.02.2025 14:17 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0It was an honour to advocate with Tanja Harrison. 03.02.2025 14:14 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We're making progress π¨π¦ but still a ways to go for optimal and equitable screening. Missing from this chart is supplemental screening for dense breasts and high-risk programs because so few provinces offer them. Let's give all Canadians the best chance to find breast cancer early!
