Like at this point it’s no secret to the people writing these headlines that this kind of thing has been roundly criticized for years and years. It’s an intentional, conscientious decision on their part. They know they’re propagandists (and, for better or worse, we all are!).
Here’s the link to a piece I wrote on this: www.patreon.com/posts/101833...
I do think this is a far-reaching phenomenon impacting everything from moral laws to traffic laws—when the system isn’t working for people and is actually fucking them over constantly, they rely on small acts of protest against it to retain their dignity, even if those acts are grossly misdirected.
We are out of time!
Between places being closed and the roads being a mess, I’m not optimistic about how much I’ll be able to make from deliveries these next few days, so I’d appreciate it if anyone could send a few bucks my way! 💞

Welcome to the US! We may not have healthcare or any public infrastructure whatsoever, but if you fill up your car on days starting with T during odd-numbered hours and the gas comes to more than the value of your car, you can deduct it from your capital gains taxes! They’re repealing that law soon.
I really hate asking for charity—it’s actually like my worst nightmare, putting myself at others’ mercy. It’s humiliating! I just don’t know what else to do. So if you’d like to support my work (@losingourmindspod.bsky.social) instead, I’d love that! Subscribe here: www.patreon.com/LosingOurMin...
The bread is overpriced and full of microplastics and the circuses are split over a dozen streaming services at $15/mo a pop, and meanwhile what they’re supposed to distract from/compensate for has grown to literally apocalyptic proportions.

Calls to abolish ICE are correct and necessary, but people need to know that it can’t and won’t stop there. ICE is just one of the latest tools for the preservation of this colonial, white supremacist empire. That’s why Democratic and Republican politicians alike support it. We must abolish the US.
Every single thing about the world that used to bring joy or value is being ruined systematically from the top-down, but the fallout from that, in all its particulars, is being blamed almost exclusively on the people at the bottom with no ability to change it.
When you find that you can’t post what you really mean to say online, that’s a good sign that you need to be finding or making spaces offline where those things that need to be said can be.
This new Losing Our Minds at the End of the World post was my final paper for a class my last semester of grad school in philosophy, spring of 2017. It compares ICE/BP agents with fugitive slave catchers in the 1850s. It’s an important history—infuriating and urgently relevant today.
Observe how journalists are flagrantly distorting facts to support the administration’s narrative and lend their institutions’ legitimacy to this farcical prosecution. The government doesn’t even need to tell them their lines; they know the role they play in empire perfectly well already.
We like to imagine ourselves as civilized and enlightened compared to past generations, with international law and a “rules-based international order,” but the fact remains that if someone has the power and the will to do something, they will do it. The only real solution is to take away that power.
We owe our unshakable solidarity to the people of Venezuela against the shameless, nakedly criminal actions of US imperialists in kidnapping a sovereign nation’s elected leader on fraudulent charges for transparently ideological reasons. The lawless terror of US hegemony threatens the whole world. 🇻🇪
A notorious crime wrapped in the guise of law enforcement, an act of war cloaked in the language of peace, plunderers and thieves celebrating each other as humanitarians and philanthropists—the hypocrisy and terror of US imperialism stand opposed to the survival of our species.

Some think the most urgent task of public policy is to improve society for everybody, and others think it’s to sort people into “Good” and “Bad” categories based on movies they’ve seen and make the bad people suffer as much as possible, even if that rules out doing anything for the good people.
“The life of the vampire is devoid of pleasure, stripped to the barest of trappings in order to pursue efficiently the one real necessity: blood. The process of procuring it seems hardly worth the trouble, given the miserable kind of quasi-life it sustains.”
