Life shouldn’t be like this. The world shouldn’t be like this. Our birthright of harmony and wonder has been stolen by heartless usurpers to such a degree that we think the problem with the world is us—that we’re deeply, hopelessly broken and not worth saving. We’ve never known the lives we’re owed.

We’re at the point where it’s absolutely clear that everyone’s survival depends on everyone else’s, on global cooperation, and that anyone making distinctions between the worth of different human lives is afflicted with the deadliest of insanities, a death-cult ideology that would destroy us all.

I live in an area of frequent wildfires and it makes me reflect, every year, on how easily we can lose the things we care about. Good, beautiful things that you might not think about all the time, and maybe things that you didn't expect to care about. That's why I care.

I make this very clear in the first episode of the podcast, but since it isn’t out yet, let me just say: this is not a doomerist project! I am not a fatalist! Not a nihilist! I have not given up hope and won’t until and unless we are all dead! By “end of the world,” I mean to highlight the gravity…

Dying in America What an American way to die! The fear of other people and the fear of dying alone. What an American way to die! In a hospital room with the meter running. What an American way to die! A million souls raptured out of their clothing on their way to work and only we unworthy remain in "a tight labor market." What an American way to die! Choking up the reds for your white sheets and blue gown. What an American way to die! Another lamb slaughtered and the stock market goes wild, frothing with bloodlust and frenzy, cash falling from the hospital ceiling like a game show. What an American way to die! After two years we think we know everyone for whom the bell tolled but it tolls still-we've tried breaking it apart but it won't stop tolling and tolling and tolling into existence new wings of wax for the people we love still slipping through our cold fingers into the blinding winter sun.

NGL: I’m so scared

I've heard this from so many people. Seriously, I get messages like this almost every day. I'm scared, too. Sometimes. Other times I'm fearless and defiant. And I don't really know what makes the difference, what the trick is. But I will say this: while we could choose to despair that we are all afraid-and not for no reason!— we must remember that we're all feeling similarly because we're all in the same boat, facing the same future, together. There is great potential for solidarity in this. Face your fear head-on, let yourself feel it and then act bravely anyway. Otherwise the fear will warp and twist you into someone you don't recognize. Fear won't kill you; trying to avoid feeling it just might, or worse. Feel the confidence of our enormous numbers, the great masses of people where real power resides. Solidarity is the only path forward out of fear. We give each other courage, and I offer you some of mine, friend.

NGL: I feel like I'm losing my mind because my country considers the Axis of Resistance terrorists, and me wanting the AoR to succeed in dismantling the colonial entity is considered abberant, radicalist behavior. My people are being surveilled in mosques, I want all of this to end

Democrats could be making moves to “Trump-proof” their alleged policy agenda while they still have the White House and Senate, as many of their supporters are begging them to do. Instead, they’re trying to end the world before Trump takes office.

Even if major legislation was passed reducing fossil fuel emissions, you know after 6 months conservatives would say, “See? It’s not working! We might as well keep burning them.” The entire systems of government, economy and media have to be such that moneyed interests can’t purchase public opinion.
