The premier of Nova Scotia’s ENTIRE plan is based on oil and gas extraction. He just said it on air. That is his only plan. Our biggest industry is tourism and he just cut $$ to tourism, arts & conservation (all reasons why people come here).

N.S. culture minister faces questions about cuts to tourism, arts On Wednesday, Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage Minister Dave Ritcey deferred to staff when asked if stakeholders would be given a reason why certain programs were chosen for funding cuts.

The minister can’t provide a single coherent reason for cutting $130M in grants to community organizations.

The Cape Sable Historical Society (CSHS) has received news by email this morning regarding the Provincial Budget 2026-27 with a heavy heart and profound concern. As the managing organization for the Barrington Museum Complex, we are devastated by the decision to permanently shutter the Barrington Woolen Mill Museum—one of Southwest Nova Scotia’s most significant industrial heritage sites.

Furthermore, we have been informed of a 20% decrease in operating grants for the Old Meeting House and Seal Island Light Museums. These drastic cuts are particularly jarring given that since 2008, our only funding adjustment was a single 10% increase in 2023 with a hearty acknowledgment of our role in the success of our province’s growth.

In addition to the Barrington Woolen Mill Museum, 11 other of the 28 Nova Scotia Museum family sites will be closed, and the remaining sites and all recipients of the Community Museum Assistance program funding, will have their respective grants decreased as well. Reportedly, 38 million has been cut from the Dept of Community, Culture, Tourism and Heritage budget so this will affect many organizations and businesses in our Province.

Please read our response attached below. If you recognize the vital role that museums/heritage, and communities, culture, tourism in general, play in the financial and cultural success of our province, and wish to voice your objection, we have included contact information for the Premier Tim Houston, Dept of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage Minister Dave Ritcey, and Shelburne County MLA Nolan Young.

Is Equalization Unfair to Alberta? - Alberta Views The equalization payment reflects a core value: ensuring all Canadians can receive normal public services without paying abnormally high taxes

Let’s clear up a common misconception: Alberta doesn’t “pay into” equalization. No province does. It’s a federal program funded by federal taxes collected from individuals and businesses paying the same tax rate across the country.

Man, when drivers say they are fine with a transit fare increase because “transit users, not all taxpayers, should pay for transit”, they really don’t like it when you respond with “put tolls on the roads, because drivers, not all taxpayers, should have to pay for driving.”

I am watching what is happening in Minneapolis on Ali Velshi and one of the ICE officers (off camera) literally says, “It’s like Call of Duty. Pretty cool huh?” as they shoot whatever it is they are shooting. Agents walking around, guns unholstered for no reason. This is insanity

There is no “middle class” and hasn’t been for decades. There’s the wealthy, the working class and the impoverished.
How about taxing the hell out of the 1% and raising corporation taxes to a minimum of 60%?

Israeli occupation forces distributed warning leaflets in Tubas, in the northern occupied West Bank, this morning, threatening Palestinian residents that posting, sharing, or publishing online content critical of Israel would be treated as a terrorist offense, potentially resulting in arrest or imprisonment.

The leaflets stated:

"We are monitoring what you do online. Disseminating, writing, or publishing inciting content online is considered a terrorist crime in every sense and may lead to arrest or imprisonment, as has happened in this house. We have warned you."

There's a bloke in my town that goes around on a bike with gardening tools tidying up public spaces that the council doesn't/can't afford to do. I've no idea how he funds himself but a UBI would release thousands of people with a passion to do things being stifled by wage labour.
