An incredible 24C above normal for a 7-day stretch lasting from Christmas to New Year’s. Hudson Bay could be your new beach destination for the holidays.

On second thought, temperatures will only be a couple degrees above freezing and there’s just 6 hours of daylight.

And we now have a new round of snow squall watches. Winds will switch back to the northwest late tonight and gust to 60km/h on Thursday. Heavy snow rates of 5-10cm per hour are possible in the heaviest squalls. #LdnOnt could see 30cm+ by Friday morning. #onstorm

These forecasted snow amounts through the end of day Saturday are impressive. Snow becomes heavy in the lake belt tonight with only slight variations in wind direction over the next 48-hours. Blowing snow and zero visibility will likely shut down some highways this weekend.

Heavy lake effect snow squalls will set up Thursday night and continue through at least Monday. Some areas closer to Lake Huron and Georgian Bay could get up to 80cm. Driving will be very difficult in this region all weekend long.

Dense fog a concern this afternoon in some areas. With visibility near zero, drive with care and give yourself plenty of space.

Today’s “find the front” game is too easy. Heavy rain and a sharp 180 degree wind shift this evening along with gusts up to 70km/h. Could even see a thunderstorm. #onstorm

Bomb cyclone

The pressure is now down below 950mb with this impressive cyclone off the west coast. The centre stays offshore and starts to slowly weaken tomorrow but the effects in the form of high waves, heavy rain, mountain snow and wind will continue for days.

Is this the last of the sunny and mild days in Toronto? It certainly looks like with with a major pattern change on the way.

This blob of thunderstorms will likely become T.S. Sara. The verdict is still out on just how strong she will get in the Caribbean and if Florida will eventually be impacted next week. Stay tuned.
