The countless days at the Nanoindenter and discussions after looking at the results finally paid off. I am pretty happy about how this story turned out 👨🏽‍🔬👩🏻‍🔧👩🏻‍💻👨🏼‍💻

It is a classic research story of how trying to tackle one problem led to a discovery of a much bigger and important problem. I want to thank my Post-doctoral advisor @blascolab.bsky.social and my super talented colleague @claravamar.bsky.social

In the US alone, each year, norovirus causes ~20 million acute gastroenteritis cases, 70,000 hospitalizations, up to 800 deaths, at a cost of ~$10.6 billion annually.
