Graphic announcement on a purple gradient background: left side shows a close-up photo of the DEAP-3600 detector interior; right side has a large white panel with the text “NEW PAPER” and “Phys. Rev. D.” A circular DEAP-3600 logo appears in the top-right corner, and “deap3600-outreach@snolab.ca” is written along the bottom.
Our new paper accepted in Phys. Rev. D!
We measured how radon daughters ²¹⁰Pb/²¹⁰Po diffuse in Nylon-6 - much faster at high humidity - informing ultra-low-background detectors for dark matter & neutrinos.

Scientific Seminar: MicroBooNE finds no evidence for a single sterile neutrino
YouTube video by Fermilab
Neutrinos keep surprising us 👀
In their latest result, #MicroBooNE used one detector and two beams to test the idea of a fourth, “sterile” neutrino. Their data show no sign of it and rule out that model with 95% certainty.
Congrats to our colleagues at @fermilab.bsky.social & MicroBooNE!

Construction workers created two colossal caverns, each more than 500 feet long and about seven stories tall, for the gigantic particle detector modules of the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment, hosted by Fermilab. A third cavern will house utilities for the operation of the detector. Photo: Matthew Kapust, Sanford Underground Research Facility
The upcoming LBNF-DUNE experiment will go even further, studying neutrinos to search for the answer to one of the most fundamental questions in science: Where did all the matter in our universe come from? (In other words: Why is there something rather than nothing?) 🧪🔭

❄️ Having a chill start to the week at SNOLAB!
SNOLAB uses a special technique to measure trace amounts of radon in infrastructure and experiments in the underground laboratory. This method, a radon assay, requires cryogenic temperatures to make it work.
