Dr malcolm kendrick has said very similar things.
Ivor Cummins is not medical. But he is quite a smart guy who seems to have read an analysed a lot of the literature on statins.
I'm not saying he is right but it's good to know both sides of the argument.
βThere is simply no conception (within NHS England) of how pivotal GPs are to the cost-effective performance of the health service - let alone to holistic patient careβ

Bit late to post this, but this story from last week based on our annual survey of locum GPs shows how the current jobs crisis is affecting locums. In England most are struggling to find work, with many saying it has had a devastating impact on their income www.gponline.com/locum-gps-st... #GPnews

Does anyone else want to collaborate on this project?
Sharing templates more widely and ideally getting every useful tool and score from MDCalc and on to AccuRx.
Collaboration request... #MedSky who can help?
I want to form a group of clinicians to persuade AccuRx to allow for "community collaboration" and sharing of templates more widely?
Pls like and share if you agree

Does anyone else love time saving, technology, @Accurx and @mdcalc ?
If so, please read and share.
I really want to see AccuRx embrace this small change that could lead to a grass-roots revolution in the use of objective patient surveys and tools.

This post takes 5 mins to read. It's brilliant. She lays out how we should be learning from inquests and coroners reports.
And how she has developed a new website that automates the collection and reporting of the data.
It's inspiring

Especially when we know the yellow cards actually sent are the tip of the iceberg and less that 5% (?) Of potential reactions.
Everyone involved in healthcare in the UK should read this harrowing tale of how the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme did not work in this instance.

The failure for GPs to find work after qualifying is unacceptable
Between 1/5 to 1/3 depending on year are not in any form of employment after qualifying
Training more GPs without providing practices the funding to employ them is a NHS England failure

Is this the modern-day NHS postcode lottery?
Where you live determines your access to General Practiceβif not the access itself, then the type of access.
Canβt help thinking part of this is driven by inequitable funding via Carr-Hill formula.
I know lots of GPST3 looking for work.
Only 1 person I know has taken up an ARRS role.
There are 6322 Neighbourhood Health Centres in England
GP Practices have lost 20% real terms funding since 2016, if they hadnβt they would be better able to provide the care patients need, but still 31m appts/month
Fund GP practices properly & theyβll do the rest @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social
Line charts showing decline in cardiovascular disease death rate since 1950 in the US, France, UK and Italy.
Cardiovascular disease mortality has declined in many countries over the past decades.
For example, US cardiovascular disease death rates have declined 4x since 1950.
When I was a student I emailed a few different conference organisers and was able to get free places. Don't ask, don't get.
Is the work relevant to any particular charities who might support it?
