new on DIS/MEMBER: @gracedalyauthor.bsky.social on her debut THE-SCALD CROW, in conversation with fellow excellent author @sydboll.bsky.social! www.dis-member.com/interview-i-...
I loved chatting with @gracedalyauthor.bsky.social about her debut, The Scald-Crow. It is necessary reading!
Here is the real-life bumper sticker I found in the dirt behind my unit that kind of inspired the story!
Hello. I wrote a story about bumper stickers, a demonic cassette tape, and sad clowns.
Big thanks to @foofarawpress.bsky.social for giving it a home & Fright Club for the space (and idea) to write.

I'm working on a project about dryads and would love recommendations for books about dryads, nature spirits, nymphs, or anything that seems somewhat relevant.

βThis digital doppelganger lives on, and I canβt kill herβ¦Soon she might be more real than me.β
@sydboll.bsky.social is in Estate of Fright, a black mirror shows horrifying reflections, and more in the latest Manor Post.

[AI] is not your therapist
it does not know or care about what is best for you
itβs not your friend/partner
it does not know you or wish to know you
it has no will of its own and will only ever be a tool of capitalism
its purpose is replacing jobs (yes, even yours) to make the rich richer
I know that I it is likely I'll have a depressive episode again. I'll probably have to switch medications again. But in writing I can explore those feelings and make sense of life when my brain doesn't make sense.
Writing is one of the only ways I can make sense of having major depressive disorder and suicidal ideation. It's dark, sure, but I find that writing about gives me some power over the condition and reminds me how far I've come in treatment.
Finishing up revisions on Death Wish, vol. 2, so it will be ready for Charleston Zine Fest on July 9. So much new material for this one & I'm excited to share it -- and work on the design.
I got stung by a fire ant yesterday and one of the worst parts is I have to take Benadryl to combat the itchiness and burning sensation... but now I'm too sleepy to write!

Ooh I like that idea!
Ok, so I have a memoir project, a novel revision, and a novel first draft I'm working on. Any advice from the #writercommunity on how to manage multiple projects at once?
Do you pick one and stick with it? Work on each based on some kind of regular schedule? Just vibe out?

I am working on a couple of book projects and finally decided to give Scrivener a try and, oh my god, this is so much easier than the messy Google Docs system I was trying to use.

A few months ago, I wrote about the impact of THELMA & LOUISE on my life. If you wanted to give it a read, here you go: thehorrorchick.substack.com/p/90s-rewind...
Any shares would be appreciated - cheers y'all! π€
My partner, who does endurance sports, has longer training sessions in the summer, which means I have longer writing sessions! In the fall/winter, I find myself "squeezing in" writing around life responsibilities and peak running training for autumn races.

Hi - I'm Sydney/Syd. I'm currently working on a memoir about running & mental health and a queer YA/NA crossover about ghosts and hauntings.
I'm drawn to horror b/c it gives me the space to think about and process the dark things I experience with major depressive disorder.

This is so boring, but it would be vanilla ice cream with oreos, resee's cups, and cookie dough in it.

I watched my mother's gaze follow the solstice sunrise over the horizon. She grasped my fingers and the sharp scent of iron wafting to my nose in the early morning.
"It is finished," she said, and I looked over the cliff at the man splayed out on the altar below. "We are free."

Giving myself one day before I dive into my novel revision and work on some short stories. Not sure if I will make it our of bed today, if I'm honest.
Home from #StokerCon, very tired (but inspired) and ready to dig into all my new horror books π»
Happy Fathers Day to Tar
thank you for readimg and sharing π
this was a thoughtful reflection on an experience getting medical help and bumping up against emotional challenges. itβs so easy to compare our journeys with health and wellness to other people, but ultimately we have to do what is right for US, regardless of how others interpret our choices.
For @slate.com I wrote about taking Lupron, a controversial drug that has put me in menopause. I'm not even 30.
