If you're a nerd like I am and are interested in minimum standards for bike lanes widths, we should follow the Dutch recommendations of a minimum of about 7 feet for *one-way* bicycle lanes.

100% avoidance/banning is not going to work in my opinion, but we do need to give people better options and get the government to support these options.

New Danish study concludes that traffic noise is killing people:

"A 14.9 decibel increase in road traffic noise [outside the home] was associated ... with an 8.1% increased risk of all-cause mortality."

Traffic noise was much deadlier than air pollution.
