Please sign and share. Cleaning the air we breathe dramatically reduces viral transmission. Imagine rarely getting sick and how much better you and your family would feel. We all deserve to breathe air as clean as the water we drink.

Cultivating the Myth of Transparency New Brunswick Public Health obscured Covid-19 death metrics in the name of convenience

As promised, I sought to find out why NB redefined Covid-19 deaths and how that redefinition impacted reporting, and the response is frightening.

They changed the definition based on vibes, resulting in 2 of every 3 covid-caused deaths not being reported.

Still wrapping my head and my words around this, but here is a peak at what I've uncovered.

In addition to spurious rationale for abandoning the nationally established definition of a Covid-19 fatality, NB's reporting change led to approximately 44% of Covid-caused deaths to go uncounted in 2023.

It's me, in crayon, expressing my ire by grinding my teeth and not-so-carefully placing the whole of this "data" where it belongs; the fucking bin.

Look, we all hate Trash-Stat Tuesday, none more than myself, but we're here now so we may as well just get it over with.

A screenshot of the mandate letter to the Honourable Chuck Chiasson, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure. It outlines his responsibilities, including to update the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act, to require new schools, hospitals, long-term care homes, and other public buildings follow ASHRAE 241, and to add suitable air filtration and cooling units to existing infrastructure.

Our work is paying off.

Today, Mandate Letters from Premier Susan Holt
incoming Ministers were shared with the public.

The Hon. Chuck Chiasson, Minister of Transportation & Infrastructure, will take the lead on the party's commitment to improve the air in public buildings.

With so many new people arriving, it's a good time to repost this dive into our FOI/RTI work which exposed how every provincial and territorial public health office knew about the severity and prevalence of Long Covid in July 2020 and did nothing.

New Brunswick Covid-19 Sequencing: January 2024

BA.2.86.1: 2.1%
EG.5.1.1: 2.1%
GK.2.1: 2.1%
HC.2: 2.1%
HK.3: 10.4%
HK.3.3: 2.1%
HV.1: 18.8%
JD.1.1: 2.1%
JE.1.1: 2.1%
JF.1: 4.2%
JG.3: 10.4%
JN.1: 14.6%
JN.1.1: 2.1%
JN.1.2: 4.2%
JN.1.4: 18.8%
JN.1.5: 2.1%

Updated sequencing to January 12.

We see JN.1 and its ilk now making up almost 42% of cases, up from a max of 6% of cases in December. JN.1 is thought to be more immune evasive and has fuelled recent C19 waves globally.

I'd like to pause here and note that our official Covid-19 death count is 999.

999 New Brunswickers have been killed by this virus in under four years.

What should be an atrocity is broadly accepted as normal, inevitable and not worthy of active mitigation.

god help us.

"SEASON" SUMMARY (of the demonstrated-to-be-incorrect numbers)
• 2643 PCR cases
• 1154 "hospitalizations" (20 under 19)
• 76 "ICU admissions" (0 under 19)
• 64 "deaths"
• 283 lab confirmed outbreaks

Bar chart titled New Brunswick Respiratory Season (Aug 27, 2023 - Jan 13, 2024)

Hospitalizations: Covid-19: 1154, Influenza: 359
ICU Admissions: Covid-19: 76, Influenza: 40
Deaths: Covid-19: 64, Influenza: 17
Outbreaks: Covid-19: 283, Influenza: 32

Despite influenza being prevalent, we can still see that C19 is not just a flu. The impacts of C19 are deeper and more deadly by orders of magnitude.

A Venn Diagram showing two circles labelled "People sick and/or dying due to Covid" and "People who happen to be in hospital."
The overlapping space, representing a very small proportion of either circle, is labelled "NB Covid Data."

It is wishful thinking that the posted data represent what is in our communities.

It may or may not.

Current NB C19 "data" are unburdened by reality. They are poorly sampled and questionably analyzed and represent only what is happening in particular buildings in the province.

It's me, I'm back from a much needed break to express my ire in this internet cesspool by grinding my teeth and not-so-carefully placing the whole of this "data" where it belongs. In the fucking bin. Seriously, fuck this shit.

Wake up, it's Trash-Stat Tuesday.

The bad news is the virus and its associated gruesome impacts, which have been thoroughly and successfully normalized, continue to kill and disable NBers. The good news is, according to the fake numbers, the virus is slowing down a notch.

So...
We protect each other.

Power does not want people helping people. Communal care emancipates us and fosters a security in opposition to the widespread, manufactured precarity leveraged against the public by systems of oppression and extraction.
