Yeah, this game's too clever by half. Just as it's occurring to me that - unlike Pathologic 1/2 and their contiguous open world, this one is broken up into small regions - it drops this on me:

Godot really is pretty good, huh? It genuinely took some time to click, but I've found my flow and am really enjoying my nightly hour or two working on a tiny side project as my upcoming release has started wrapping up.

I spoke to a dozen professional concept artists working in games about whether generative AI image tools have made their jobs easier, even if it's just used in "very early ideation stages."

Zero said "yes." Most said it made their job harder.

I learnt a lot about concept artists. You should too!

I picked up No Players Online both to support it after the DMCA thing and because I wanted to see how they expanded what was in the Haunted PS1 Demo Disk version, but no one told me it went all-in on the 90s OS/Internet as a framing device! I love this stuff.

i was racking my brain on how to fake low poly volumetric lights. i figured out how to combine the front face fresnel + back face inverted fresnel. the material is double sided to save vertices.

basically softens the edges of the cone with parameters.
