I started with cave story because I felt like it was the relevant starting point for what a modern indie game 'represents' culturally. Ultimately I made this in a couple days to talk about something I had been feeling, it's a youtube video not a graduate thesis.

I think you falsely interpreted my video as a history of indie games instead of a video about how indie doesn't really mean anything and doesn't accurately describe aesthetics or circumstances. If you wanted a history on indie games it seems you have one already.

i came to terms with just banning anyone mildly annoying years ago but yes I wish you could dismiss a comment from youtube studio without either explicitly hearting it or banning them/removing the comment

KINDS OF KINDNESS is a good movie about this sort of relationship between abuser and abused, how people will go to great lengths to control others and how people will go to great lengths to be controlled by others

if the comments on my latest video mean anything it's that people actually want to be told what to do and get really uncomfortable when left to think for themselves even accusing you of some ulterior motive or whatever

"just dont read comments" part of creation is the feedback of being seen maybe if I had a friend that actually watched my videos I would be less inclined to check comments but currently my options are read extremely negative feedback or get none at all and become a robot

I think I do regret becoming a youtuber the misanthropy I have fostered over the years due to constant hatred over totally banal shit is very hard to cope with I really do just viscerally hate the average commenter and reading comments always ruins my day

it's really crazy how you can turn to the camera and say "I think we should celebrate more games and be more accurate about how we describe them" and because we live in such a low trust society now people will think you are being hateful or pushing an agenda

literally every video i've made ever has gotten comments like this from people saying 'your content has really changed.... i'm going to have to unsub and i think a lot of other people will too....' even though I've made shitty commentary videos from day 1

Highguard might be the first chatgpt game, a blend of every idea from every other mildly popular fps game that completely falls apart once you realize it's 3v3. Another release that lacks any actual cohesive identity and another example of how synthesis is not the only element of creativity.
