AI 2027 A research-backed AI scenario forecast.

AI als bijna-menselijk presenteren (zoals in het AI2027-rapport) is geen vergissing maar bewuste marketingstrategie. Het doet berekening doorgaan voor bewustzijn, wekt valse verwachtingen en trekt kapitaal aan. Zo wordt de AI-bubbel opgeblazen, met teleurstellingen (helaas?!) als gevolg.

Menselijke intelligentie en bewustzijn zijn complexe fenomenen. Filosofie en wetenschap buigen zich er al eeuwen over, zonder eenduidig antwoord. Precies daarom is de kloof zo groot: hoe kan de technologie iets bereiken dat we zelf nog niet eens goed en eenduidig kunnen definiëren?

AI denkt niet op menselijk intelligente manier na. Het betreft statistiek en patroonherkenning: probabilistische modellen die kans berekenen, zonder ervaring of subjectief besef. Indrukwekkend, maar fundamenteel berekening - geen begrip, geen bewustzijn, geen emotie, geen creativiteit.

Wonderlijk dat zoveel mensen spreken over AGI (AI met intelligentie op of voorbij menselijk niveau). In werkelijkheid is dit vooral een manier om hype te creëren: door AI als bijna-menselijk te framen blijft de bubbel groeien en stromen investeringen binnen

AI is killing the web. Can anything save it? The rise of ChatGPT and its rivals is undermining the economic bargain of the internet

AI-systemen putten uit bestaande bronnen, maar die bronnen raken inkomsten kwijt. Daarmee dreigt informatievoorziening afhankelijker te worden van de platforms die het hergebruiken. AI kan extra geld opleveren via deals, maar ondergraaft tegelijk het model dat het web draaiend hield. Meer weten?

En dat betekent zoeken naar oplossingen. Sommige sites sluiten licentiedeals met AI-bedrijven, zoals News Corp, The New York Times en Axel Springer. Anderen blokkeren AI-bots of experimenteren met betaalmuren.

De gevolgen zijn voelbaar. Sites als The Guardian, Washington Post, Wikipedia en Reddit zien bezoekersaantallen dalen. Minder bezoekers of abonnees betekent minder middelen om journalistiek en informatievoorziening te financieren.

Het web draaide lang op een simpele deal: sites publiceren content, lezers bezoeken de site en advertentie- of abonnementsinkomsten volgen. AI gebruikt diezelfde content, maar omzeilt verder verkeer naar desbetreffende sites door antwoorden zelf te serveren.

AI verandert hoe we op het internet informatie zoeken en vinden. Tools als ChatGPT, Perplexity en Google AI-Overviews geven direct antwoorden die vaak gebaseerd zijn op informatie van andere (nieuws)sites. Men klikt echter minder vaak door naar de originele bron, wat sites verkeer en inkomsten kost.

Precies, dat is het leuke aan die grootmeesters: de creativiteit, intuïtie, emoties. Een computer kent dat niet, die rekent alleen. Leuk om tegen te spelen, maar totaal onvergelijkbaar. Winnen maakt ’m nog niet ‘slim’ in de menselijke zin.

Rekenkracht is onderdeel van het denkvermogen maar slechts één aspect. Schaken negeert veel andere aspecten van menselijke intelligentie, zoals creativiteit, sociale en emotionele vaardigheden. Juist daarom vind ik schaken een smalle en onvolledige maatstaf om menselijke intelligentie mee te toetsen

Het is een beroerde manier om intelligentie te bewijzen. Het is een spel met simpele, vaste regels en perfecte informatie: beide spelers zien altijd het hele bord en kennen alle mogelijke zetten. In zo’n strak afgebakend domein kan een computer elke optie razendsnel doorrekenen en de beste kiezen.
