Agree, but generally speaking traditional talk therapy isn’t as effective for complex trauma. Unfortunately, that’s not an opinion…

What I’ve found over the past 155 years is a LOT of therapists are not truly trauma-informed. Traditional talk therapy (like CBT) doesn’t do much for CPTSD. Unsolicited recommendation: try looking for providers who offer EMDR or IFS/parts work. Somatic therapy, too. 💛

Apparently none of us are born with executive function? It has to be taught/learned… Aka the default setting is “neurodivergent.”

But ya know what therapy is actually kind of like waving a magic wand? EMDR. The magic wand goes left, right, left, right, left, right […] and *poof* trauma brain fixed.

My therapist said to me: “If you react to [similar but safe] situations today with the same rage that protected you from your past abusers, you’re just feeding the trauma and keeping it alive. They’re not here anymore. Learn to starve it instead.” I just… wow. Wow.
