I feel I need to clarify that inkgd (the GDScript port) is actually maintained by someone else. I maintain the wrapper around the official ink runtime (github.com/paulloz/godo...).

Honestly, making some changes to only have the compilation to resource files, and the resource files exposing the story directly doesn't sound that bad.
That makes sense. The variant list wrapper is mainly here for GDScript users. I'm not a huge fan either. Might need to think about a better way to split both APIs at some point.
Urg yeah, it's been hard to find time and motivation after work to maintain. The main branch might be a bit more up to date than the published version. I sadly am going to have lots more free time in the coming months 😅 Might tackle some missing things...
I'm curious why you go through the core story? Although I leave it accessible because I figure some people might want to, the wrapper should have pretty much all the API accessible. Were you missing anything important?

I believe --full is default behaviour nowadays, so you can drop it (one less thing to remember).
It's actually super visible once you realize the pause menu takes exactly half the screen, and the character is always visible on the left.
