2/ Maybe the lead is that the war goals DO NOT involve destroying Iran's nuclear weapons program. This is, uh...surprising...since Trump says over and over this is a key goal.
But then of course we already know air strikes can't wipe out their nuclear material.
And any longer, less-simple answer necessarily includes the following sentence: "The vast majority of self-proclaimed free-speech defenders in American political and cultural life have for years been cheerfully hostile to organized student self-expression on campus."
Seems to me that if you're upset that there's not more of a student movement fighting fascism in 2026, the first place to direct your anger is the people who crushed the wave of student organizing that crested in the months immediately preceding the fascists' rise to power.

I'm starting to think if I say "ICE has not left Minnesota" (which of course is true!) I should also say "ICE has not left Chicago" and "ICE has not left LA" because I think the point is that ICE wants to occupy a lot of places at this scale so that it just becomes reality, it's not just Minnesota.
