I see people argue that you can't criticise small indie games, and I always wonder: at what scale does it become OK, then? How many employees does the team need? How many games under their belt? How much money made? Do developers need to submit audited accounts before you can say it's only okay?

John, you've reviewed little known indies negatively a heap of times. Criticism isn't just for Activision. We spent time playing a bunch of demos and wrote about ones we liked and ones we didn't. Part of recommending stuff can also be saying "give it a miss". You've done this yourself many times.

We may examine indies through a different lens, but you owe nothing to journalists, and they owe nothing back. If you make games you will encounter harsh opinions. I wouldn't apologise to EA if I hurt their feelings. So you don't get special treatment. Criticism is not exclusive to Ubisoft.
