Stood for a while watching and listening to the lapwings on the moor this morning, they've just appeared in the last week or so 😊

I need to seriously consider re-covering my p/tunnel, it's 13 years old this year and the cover is getting brittle in places now. Big expense tho, as all the timber will need to be replaced as well 😬

Finally got the guttering up and connected on my new shed 🙌 It's only taken ages cos the old shed was 7x7ft and the new one is 8x6, so had to saw pieces off some bits and stick the pieces to other bits. Then the IBC tank was too far away, so I used some flexible pond pipe 👌 #allotment #shed

and it was the latter which had the least regrowth the following year. More work found that it prefers compacted and slightly acidic ground. I can't find that reference for the life of me now, but I have found myself that it's less prolific in beds following the brassica year when it's been limed 🤷🏼‍♀️

I read a thing years ago, where someone had done an experiment on best ways to get rid, where they'd split some infested ground up and had, iirc, 1 untouched control, then 1 glyphosated, 1 dug over and then repeatedly hoed, and 1 that was heavily limed, then dug, then heavily mulched -

- other than a bit of light, which you can mitigate through carefully pulling it before you plant out, and then judicious hoeing. I've worked around it for 17 years, and still get decent crops as long as I feed the soil 🤷🏼‍♀️ People get too obsessed with bare soil imho.

Utterly pointless. It's a prehistoric plant, it's survived worse than weedkiller 🙄 It will have a massive, mother-of-all-rhizomes lurking up to 20ft down, from which it will just resprout. Best thing you can do is accept its presence and get on with growing anyway. It takes very little from the veg

Note that indie/self-publishing authors rarely do this. Publishing houses that buy up indie authors' work nearly always do. Raven Kennedy's Plated Prisoner series, as an example, is now daubed with the Tiktok nonsense in all the titles.

Supposed blurb for the book which starts with all capital letters: EVERY BOOK TELLS A STORY. EVERY HEART HIDES A SECRET. Which tells us little about the book. Except that it's telling a story. Which we knew. Then there are lines from 3 readers' reviews, 2 are named and I've never heard of them, the 3rd one is just 'a reader'. Their reviews are generic blah blah, and tell you nothing about the book. Then we go back into all capitals - THE LOST BOOKSHOP MEETS THE LOST APOTHECARY IN A BEGUILING NOVEL FULL OF SECRETS... Again, telling us literally nothing about the book itself. I did not buy this book.

If this is what a book 'title' looks like, I will not buy the book. This is not a title. I don't care if it's 'the tiktok viral sensation' or whatever shit you want to add. This just tells me you added £s to the price.
And if a blurb looks like this, I'm definitely not reading it.
