The share of income going to the top 1% in the UK has been rising since 1980. The richest 50 families in the UK own as much as 50% of the population. But Starmer is not taxing the rich, he's punishing the sick and disabled. Thatcher would be proud of him.

Cover art shows a lethal, pale-scaled serpent-dragon or wyrm lurking in woodland. It looks straight at you as its forked tongue flickers between open, sharp-toothed jaws. Book excerpt reads: Walking out into the crowds of hurrying people, I couldnโt remember where Iโd parked. For a sudden, shocking moment, I couldnโt even remember which door Iโd come through. Realising I was standing right where everyone else wanted to walk, I told myself to get a fucking grip. I moved over to the wall and concentrated on remembering the shops Iโd first passed. I checked the store directory. Now I knew where I was, and where I had to go. The Manchester traffic was predictably awful. Things improved the closer I got to Blithehurst. Once I left the main roads, I could put my foot down, not that the ageing Fabia had much poke. I reached the estateโs back entrance at a quarter past seven. Fin was already sitting in her car by the locked gate. She couldnโt have been there long. If any of the staff had seen her as they were leaving, theyโd let her drive in. But everyone had gone home by now. Fin got out of her car. As I pulled up, she came over. I lowered the window and gave her my keys. She unlocked the gate, we both drove through, and Fin snapped the padlock shut on the chain again. She followed me to park in the dairy yard. I got out of the Fabia. Fin came over to give me a hug. โWhat now?โ Her voice was muffled against my chest.

Me, a short-arse grey haired woman, standing on a stone slab path surrounded by moorland grass, with a black German Shepherd next to me. His head is at my waist height, cos I really am quite short. I'm wearing a fluorescent pink t-shirt, which I loathe, and it has the Refuge charity logo in white across the front, and the tag line 'For women and children, Against domestic violence' underneath.
Yesterday was Day 9 of Walking for Refuge, and I wore the hideous pink fecking t-shirt on the Pennine Way! Now, give them money ๐ท๐ฐ

Another hollow filled with water in the midst of golden moorland, reflecting blue skies and little fluffy clouds.
A black whippet wearing a blue coat, standing on a stone slabbed path which cuts through golden grass and reeds, alongside a dry stone wall.
A black German Shepherd dog standing in long grass, highlighted by the sun, and dripping wet from just clambering out of the water (and mud) filled hollow featured in the other picture.
Today's golden walk on the moors with my sister, Siri and Ash, absolutely glorious.

People with HMS, CFS, ME etc have been trying to get attention and help for largely the same thing for decades tho.
I need to seriously consider re-covering my p/tunnel, it's 13 years old this year and the cover is getting brittle in places now. Big expense tho, as all the timber will need to be replaced as well ๐ฌ

Sadly, every single one of us knows someone affected by domestic abuse and Refuge are a much needed service in the UK.

The silhouette of a house, surrounded by skeletal trees, against the background of a beautiful sunset with the most yellowy orange bit right behind the house fading out into pinks and purples.
A gorgeous, fiery sunset provides the backdrop for the silhouette of a row of skeletal trees.

The side of a brown wooden shed, with 4 windows reflecting blue sky, and some slightly wonky grey gutters just below the grey roof felt.
The back of a brown wooden shed, with slightly-too-long grey guttering under the grey mineral felt roof. A bit of polytunnel can be seen to the right of the shed, and neighbouring sheds to the left.
The back/gable end of the brown wooden shed, with grey guttering from both corners meeting in the middle, from the join, a black, flexible pipe connects the downpipe to a white, 1000 litre, IBC tank which is just visible in the bottom right corner. Behind the shed, the sun is glowing through the twigs and branches of a hawthorn hedge.
Finally got the guttering up and connected on my new shed ๐ It's only taken ages cos the old shed was 7x7ft and the new one is 8x6, so had to saw pieces off some bits and stick the pieces to other bits. Then the IBC tank was too far away, so I used some flexible pond pipe ๐ #allotment #shed

Book title on Amazon, all in capital letters, which reads THE LAMPLIGHTER'S BOOKSHOP: THE BRAND NEW SPELLBINDING ROMANTIC HISTORICAL FICTION NOVEL FOR 2025 Everything after the colon being unpunctuated and entirely superfluous
Supposed blurb for the book which starts with all capital letters: EVERY BOOK TELLS A STORY. EVERY HEART HIDES A SECRET. Which tells us little about the book. Except that it's telling a story. Which we knew. Then there are lines from 3 readers' reviews, 2 are named and I've never heard of them, the 3rd one is just 'a reader'. Their reviews are generic blah blah, and tell you nothing about the book. Then we go back into all capitals - THE LOST BOOKSHOP MEETS THE LOST APOTHECARY IN A BEGUILING NOVEL FULL OF SECRETS... Again, telling us literally nothing about the book itself. I did not buy this book.
FAO Publishers:
If this is what a book 'title' looks like, I will not buy the book. This is not a title. I don't care if it's 'the tiktok viral sensation' or whatever shit you want to add. This just tells me you added ยฃs to the price.
And if a blurb looks like this, I'm definitely not reading it.
