Also- tatsoi tastes like spinach and bok choy had a baby, and it has more vitamin c than orange juice! Seeds available here:

If you’re interested in growing fresh veggies but don’t have a place to garden, just know I grew this giant tatsoi cabbage completely indoors with nothing but a tray of regular potting soil and a $15 LED grow light πŸ’šπŸŒ±

Corn plant update- the perfume is so strong that the entire first floor of my house smells like Easter lilies and honeysuckle.
10/10 highly recommend πŸŒ±πŸ’šπŸͺ΄

Lacewing eggs are cheaper to ship and easier to care for, and more of them stick around where you want them to stay, whereas keeping ladybugs in your garden more than a couple days can be difficult.

Sweet, like a mix between peony and honeysuckle.

We recently got a review that our cucumber seeds were sickly and many didn’t germinate. So I did a second germination test just to be sure. They passed (again) at 99% germination, and look pretty healthy to me πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
But just know we’ll always check if you report an issue πŸŒ±πŸ’š

Yeah most of our stuff won’t get started till March in the greenhouse.
These are the slow starters that take a longer growing season- petunias, onions, etc.

A pale orange nasturtium flower with a yellow throat and variegated foliage

A pale orange nasturtium flower with a yellow throat and variegated foliage

The name β€˜nasturtium’ originates from the Latin word nāsus ("nose") and torquΔ“re ("to twist") which literally translates to "nose-twister" πŸ˜†
It’s due to the pungent spicy smell of the plant.
The flowers are edible, and taste like radishes πŸ˜‹

me holding this space as quiet compliance.
As an individual I’m active, vocal, and making good trouble.
As a business we’re donating what we can manage to help victims with legal fees and medical bills.
I just recognize that sometimes people need a moment of calm for their mental health…

a lot our followers come to this page when they need a break from the horrors and chaos. They come to enjoy the beauty of nature and gardening, and to take a much needed deep breath.
Aside from this post, I won’t take that respite away by posting more politics and news.
But do not mistake…

A cluster of bright royal blue bell flowers against a backdrop of green foliage

(1 of 3) Bear with me, but this needs to be addressed.
Lots of people out there (rightfully) saying that silence is compliance, and businesses that don’t use their social media platforms to take a stand are choosing sides with their silence.
The problem is that…

Today’s spotlight: Anise Hyssop is an easy to grow multipurpose native perennial I recommend for (most) gardens; whether it’s for pollinators, pest deterrence, or herbal medicine. It only grows ~3 ft tall, has a delightful sweet anise aroma, and doesn’t spread aggressively πŸŒ±πŸ’š

Attn hot pepper enthusiasts: what new peppers should we add to our seed lineup & greenhouse sale this year? We usually do a range from mild to wild, so give me your favorites!

It’s cold enough for a sun dog in Iowa today, so I’ll be indoors getting trays ready for onions and petunias. We usually start them on Groundhog Day and use grow lights until the greenhouse goes up in March. πŸ’šπŸŒ±

2/2 That’s precisely why we advocate for responsible placement and maintenance, and don’t ship seed to states where it’s considered a nuisance. Ours is planted in an in-ground pot to prevent runners, is pruned regularly, and only a few seed pods are allowed to mature (for sharing seed.)
