“…that shows an admirable sense of purpose” is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard Dunne say and that’s a pretty high bar to clear.
Removing massive corporate donations is massively important to our democracy.
FFS! I've seen a bunch of people talking about this headline but thought it was an old one referring to the floods. This is from TODAY?!? I'm afraid Luxon's is a block of overpriced cheese covered in blue mould by now. There ain't no way we want that crap in our national sandwich any more, Henry.
His "I'm not a politician" shtick turns out to be a massive burden. Much of the damage he's done to himself and his party could have been avoided if he actually had any political instinct. (Or empathy)
Damn straight. The only 'weapon' of any weight AoNZ has is its Moral Compass and Luxon pissed that into the wind on the first day.
And almost certainly won't. Those wounds were self-inflicted.
Stink
Aramex? I've lost track of how often I've driven out to that damn warehouse...
I never knew I was furious about ferries until I became furious about ferries.
Amazon Prime might just be my go to then - thank you
When I was at film school I spent most of my off days working my way through the massively stocked video library collection.
Thank you Kieran. Simply confirms my opinion that TOP is being used as a stalking horse to try and syphon off votes from the left wing bloc. Standard RW tactics the world over right now. Beyond disappointing.
Thank you for your service.
Walnuts are strange. We'd always have them in the UK at Christmas and they were bitter as F. Then my vegetarian friend (here in AoNZ) bought fresh walnuts, peeled them (5 hours!) and made some sort of dip/dressing with them. Heavenly.
Ooh - I want to watch this now. Where did you/can I find it? (I live in Aotearoa New Zealand)
@rebeccasolnit.bsky.social - This is a terrific interview and an absolute breath (more like a hurricane) of fresh air amongst the endless hand-wringing and pontificating. Thank you for your service 10/10
Yup - I was only observing from a distance by that stage but the nexus between Blair and Murdoch was always an enormous red flag for me. Not sure if you agree but I credit Murdoch as #1 on the long list of people who have corroded democracy worldwide.
I say good luck to ACT and National trying to use it. Winston will hoover up any anti-vax votes (should those voters actually vote) and the other two will simply add to their stench of opportunistic bullshittery.
3/3...I was very anti Iraq 2003 because war is chaos plus there were no victory conditions to aim for. Despite that, I was still struck by that performance. It was only later that I thought about it as exactly that, a 'performance'. John Smith's death was even more tragic in the rearview mirror
2/2... families of soldiers who would be sent to fight. He was on a stage with only a stool to sit on. He took off his jacket, rolled up his sleeves and took questions. It was a staggering performance, one that I simply can't imagine a politician doing now. Actually there's more... 2/3!
What a loss that was to the country and UK politics overall. I loathe Tony Blair for a wide range of reasons but he was incredibly skilled as a politician (until Iraq 2003 started to rip the scales from our eyes. I often talk about when, in the lead-up, he gave a 'town hall' session with...
You're right. It's impossible. Brexit was probably the most disastrous moment in my 'political life' (which in my telling started in 1979 when I was 16). So disheartening to see where 'we' are right now.
Totally agree - it's been 32 years for me but I still can't shake off the constant monitoring of UK politics and how it infuriates me and would absolutely infuriate me to the point of head explosion if I still lived there!
Sadly for him... and us I guess seeing as he is still in the public eye.
Sadly there is still, and never will be, anything admirable about Piers Morgan.
Wow! What a beast! And what a fabulous shot too 10/10
I have been waiting since 1979 for that to happen. It feels inevitable at some stage but I'm bloody ancient now and we're not there yet. (Plus I moved to Aotearoa New Zealand so I have less skin in the game)
Whether he believes any of it is somewhat a moot point. People have been pointing out his gross hypocrisy for years but it hasn't't made a huge difference to his ability to stick together quite different cohorts of voters every three years.
Nothing changes as far as Winston is concerned - he will say and back the things which will piece together his 5-9% of votes. Without a fringe anti-vax party out there his numbers may even climb (very slightly) higher. He is an absolute master at positioning himself for an election.
Solid point.
