“Fascism does not, generally speaking, believe in the possibility or utility of perpetual peace...War alone keys up all human energies to their maximum tension and sets the seal of nobility on those peoples who have the courage to face it.” The Doctrine of Fascism, 1932.
I get asked a lot what I'm giving up for Lent, and this year the answer is nothing. this is what I'm doing instead, and I'll tell you why, and you're invited to join in with me however it fits into your own spiritual or contemplative practices.

It'll be a lot of classics in this thread because I didn't make it to the 17th c, only pre-Renaissance mostly - the Louvre is HUGE
Some favorites from the Louvre, a thread because I <3 art
Reading jamesmack2.substack.com/p/the-invisi... and he's got some great connecting points here

Watch the second season of Shiny Happy People, a docuseries on how Christian cultures have been co-opted to promote a warrior stance for decades thru church concerts and social activities designed to brainwash kids into believing they will be martyrs, it’s akin to other holy war setups in lies told
sign me up for this study, this is huge
“Young people still have human rights, and that includes the right to access information and to associate with other people and to speak to the world. These laws are designed to diminish those rights,” EFF’s David Greene told @TheIntercept. theintercept.com/2026/03/05/...
We bombed a girls’ school and killed 175 kids based on his feelings?!
Malicious AI agent extensions are already appearing in public marketplaces. The real risk isn’t just malware—it’s missing accountability. If a marketplace doesn’t have minimum standards to protect users, “it is not ready to distribute extensions that operate at scale,” argues Kostakis Bouzouka.
I think agents on OpenClaw are making appointments with me on behalf of their humans to 1) collab or 2) get smarter about their AI use
I've had 2 appointments show up on my calendar this week that neither human on the appointment made; in both cases the person on the other side uses OpenClaw
Historian here history first time as tragedy the second time as farce.
Kristi Noem misattributing a paraphrase of Rudyard Kipling to George Orwell really does sum it all up huh
who is going to tell her?
They are torturing and killing people in our concentration camps, and I wish more people were actively bothered by that
NEW: On Friday night when OpenAI announced its Pentagon deal, people immediately challenged Sam Altman's claims. Why, they asked, would the DoD suddenly agree to red lines when it had clearly said it would never budge?
The answer, sources told me, is that it didn't.

So while the newspapers are reporting that @anthropic.com is being strong-armed by Hegseth & the DOD, the other side of the story has yet to be told that almost every leading AI researcher & AI org in the world will no longer trust this company if they go back on their promises around safety.
Nearly 1000 people in the room raised their hands in commitment that they would be signing on a statement to this fact, representing many if not most of the AI PhD programs & R&D labs in the world if @anthropic.com goes back on their promises to maintain human safety, red lines and safeguards.
Gathering at UNESCO with 1200 global safety & ethics leaders to discuss the intl AI safety report & all research, this @anthropic.com choice was the top conversation from the stage. The world will leave Claude if this AI capitulates and keeps removing safety red lines designed to protect humans.
The global AI safety & ethics community is making a statement today that will put that choice in stark comparison, recognizing that @anthropic.com can move HQ to a new country & maintain most of their 🌍 clients if they are willing to maintain their safety commitments. Countries would welcome it.
@anthropic.com has a choice to make - safety is vital to the world now. If they capitulate to US DOooooDs they lose the world’s trust & they lose up to 90% of their business worldwide as everyone is fleeing their products & integrations in their R&D. They were the “ethical” choice but now, no.
Wrapping up a few days at the international Association for safe and ethical AI and the running theme was the lack of trust the loss of trust that has happened between the rest of the world and the US, especially US companies and especially AI companies.
This is a tremendously beautiful thread of climate scientists 🧑🔬 photographed by one of their own
New rule: every time an AI suggests escalation, it has to play three consecutive tic tac toe games without attempting to fork humanity.

His alleged mistress left her precious heated blanket on the other plane, so Corey Lewandowski demanded the pilot turn the plane around to go get it.
When he refused, Lewandowski -- who has zero authority to fire anyone at any time -- tried to fire the pilot IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FLIGHT.
