Morning Bluesky
South Korea has opened an investigation into Telegram for spreading deepfakes and leaking personal data.
Dr Patricia S Paton raises some really interesting points about X getting banned in Brazil. No matter what we think of Musk, the ban gives us an insight into how the judiciary system is ‘working’ in Brazil ~ so was this a democratic act or a political one?

We have a lot of new folks that may not know anything about this, but we were created with this goal: to make sure that nobody ever monopolizes social media, including us.
"The Atmosphere" is what we call the tech, which (if you're REALLY technical) you can read about here atproto.com
We talk about Bluesky getting users, but Bluesky is part of an open social internet called "The Atmosphere" where other people can make their own apps, including their own versions of Bluesky.
Bluesky isn't growing; the Atmosphere is! You're not "our" users; you're a part of a shared place.
Labour blaming the SNP for all of Scotland’s economic ills lacks credibility, particularly as Kier Starmer stays wedded to Brexit | Martin Roche
Hard to express how important citizen journalists like the Byline Network are just now. A backstop to provide some certainty in these uncertain times. Follow them and amplify their voices.
It’s hard not to take issue with the billions we borrowed to fill Tory Donor pockets and yet suddenly it is “fiscally irresponsible” to borrow for kids not to go hungry or for pensioners not to freeze or for all of us to have decent access to to healthcare. Principles matter!
Brazil nuts, almost unique in our food supply, are not cultivated, but are collected in the wilds of the Amazon forest. Communities of indigenous nut harvesters maintain intact forests necessary for the trees. When you eat Brazil nuts, you are contributing to the conservation of Amazon forests. 🌏

I recently started a podcast to help support my healthcare colleagues (and myself) working through these very difficult times
After six episodes, I was in two minds whether to continue it.
Today, a nurse told me how much it has helped her. She cried. We hugged.
Not in two minds anymore.

Nigel Farage tightens grip on Reform as chief executive forced out.
A vote for Reform is a vote for totalitarianism.
Paul Oakden, was chief executive since Reform was Brexit Party, is said to have been asked to step aside, with Farage taking on Oakden’s shares.

I recently used AI to help craft a fab Star Wars themed welcome message to my new grandson (son’s a geek). I did tweak it. I wrote it out in a v cool card & dated it. I told everyone AI helped. I believe whenever he reads it in the future, it’ll reflect its time.
👍🏼 Best to credit AI whenever used.

"WAR may sometimes be a necessary evil. But no matter how necessary, it is always an evil, never a good. We will not learn how to live together in peace by killing each other's children."

Denizens of the secretly-funded lobby groups that call themselves ‘think tanks’ & are concentrated around Tufton Street are *really* cross with Led by Donkeys for that Liz Truss stunt. Because they need to inflate the nonsense that she wasn’t really that bad in order to keep their own grifts afloat.

The Rwanda policy no longer has any connection with legal and policy reality.
Even if implemented it will make no difference.
It cannot be made lawful in a rush, let alone in an emergency.
The money being thrown at it, better spent on UK asylum system.
It is now a totem.
