That's honestly the best advice and the only one I've found that truly works!

I know the art experience/journey is not universal, but how do we expect artists to actually be successful or have a positive experience?

Especially when every time they turn around they're constantly told how what their doing is wrong in a way that's just basically pseudo-shaming without naming

I love that advice in the art world is often contradictory -

Make merch/don't, post on platforms/don't, make art for yourself/make art that your audience wants, do in-person events/don't, comment/don't comment a certain way, etc.

Plus a million more hyper-specific ones.

Chai update:

We got our first half loaf around people! It was an extremely brief moment, but the fact chai felt comfortable enough to loaf at all and even give me his first fully relaxed lay around humans means the world!

To top this off - I say all this & I'm *NOT* a successful artist, not even close to it. I won't lie & say I am either - yes, I can pursue my dream but the only reason I can is because of predominantly my partner & my safety nets.

Even then I haven't even begun to make ends meet by doing so.

Art is all I have, because it's the only thing that will give me the grace I need for my health - but I wouldn't have that if it weren't for my partner or other safety nets I have. These allow me the ability to create and it's only because of them that I can, if I didn't have them I couldn't.

I did qualify for minor assistance w/ EBT/SNAP; but I didn't qualify after we got married despite still having health issues.

Even then, I attempted to work to lighten the load - only to risk losing my job because my health immediately tanked & risk hospitalization w/ no insurance at the time.

Prior I worked both PT & predominately FT, well beyond my physical & mental health fully tanking. It was so bad, I not only risked losing employment, but I had dr orders that prevented me from working until we figured out what was wrong (we never did)

I have never qualified for disability.

The only reason I can even afford/attempt to be a full time creative, is because of my partner who works a full-time job which not only covers our bills and necessities, but also allows me to afford my materials, AND gives guaranteed healthcare for us both. If it weren't for them, I'd be fully SOL.

Society loves to glamorize creative life - especially because artists can spend time creating or pursuing their dreams so they *MUST* have it easy; when reality is that's the furthest thing from the truth for most creatives, they can only attempt to because of the safety nets they have in place.

I feel really bad though because I had to toss his old bed despite initially planning to keep it since I was able to confirm he used it on occasion so I know he at least liked that one...

I just hope he will like this one the same if not more than his old one, but I really do feel incredibly guilty

With the cold season starting to set in & how sensitive cats are to colder temps, I knew I needed to get a heating solution for Chai.

Initially, I wanted to do a pet-safe heat mat, but power-wise I found out I don't have the grounding I need to make it safe. So I got a self-warming bed instead.

Still working on replacing all my passwords, just said fuck it & I'm replacing *EVERYTHING* + adding 2fa where I can. Honestly though, I feel overwhelmed by it, it's quickly shaping up to be a multi-day fix.

This is fully a monster of my own creation though, I knew better & took the risk anyways.

I almost just lost my personal private IG account because I didn’t change an old password that I didn’t know was leaked. Meta stopped it and sent me an email, if they hadn’t I would have lost everything.

Take your internet safety and personal info seriously.

Friendly reminder because of the numerous data breaches this year ~

Change your passwords often, don’t repeat passwords or use simple ones, use a password manager, AND use 2fa (best if you use an authenticator app)

This helps protect SO much info & avoids your stuff being hacked

Idk if they used gen-ai in pokemon z-a, but it sure does look like it in some of the museum images. The energy source pictures are the worst offenders

Apparently I'm not the only one who thinks so, but both Pokémon & game freak are silent.. extremely disappointing if true

Took nearly 3 months w/ numerous calls & runarounds, we finally have both dogs on insurance!

We didn't get a notification/email that he was approved - just logged into the app & he had a profile. Thankfully since he was approved in Oct, we just have to wait till Nov 1st for his coverage to kick in

Nothing like becoming miserably sick due to stress, I have a bad migraine forming & I have such severe pain in my shoulders/neck. To make matters worse OTC pain meds don't even take the edge off. I just feel like I'm about to cry.

Idk why this is my body's response to stress but it sucks 😭

There are times when you'll struggle to get things right in art, & it's not always based on your abilities or lack thereof. You may even feel like your art looks like shit...

But sometimes your eyes & brain desperately need a break, don't be afraid to take time for yourself 💕

Me: *working myself to the bone and not giving myself a day off because I am too obsessed and hyper-focused on a project so it consumes my every waking thought* I'm gonna give myself a day off... I need it.

Also me: god I'm so bored... I should draw.

And I wouldn’t change it for the world!
