But like final point: it’s true you don’t NEED a college degree for some jobs. But a lot of interview and application skills are only picked up at college career centers. Which is a shame! Make sure HS kids know this stuff then!

Dude my mom was IN one (postal worker) and I wish we had sat down and talked about it. I didn’t know either!

(Also I learned about sewing and cooking and basic tools at home. I think a lot of kids do. I didn’t learn about job stuff there.)

Yeah sewing and cooking were fun. Yeah table saws were cool. But I would have used the hell out of this course.

I propose a practical HS course like home ec or shop except it’s job skills.

How to apply, how to interview, how to negotiate.

But also how to defend yourself: how to document. What unions do. What your rights are.
