My lovely but not-bright pale ginger tuxedo, Sandy Goldeneyes Fraidy Cat, has a fresh YOW catnip mouse and he defies anyone to take it from him.

Quite a few of David Austin roses are reliably hardy here in Nova Scotia, particularly if they are either well-grafted or even on their own roots. I am not a true rosarian, I have about 8 or nine, including several rugosas, Scotch burnet rose, a couple climbers, a couple of landscape roses.

I don’t know what it is about this David Austin rose, but it always blooms into November. I’ve had it for more than a decade and even the polar vortex a couple years ago didn’t bother it that much. I just cut it back, it bounced back nicely and bloomed again and again.

The pinky peachy bud of the David Austin rose Crocus, which will open to soft yellow-white. My favourite rose for its hardiness and length of bloom time.

Jetfire is a mini daffodil with reflexed outer petals of yellow, and an orange corolla, or cup. Lovely little charmers.

Strawberries growing in a tray or table system, Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia.

Yes, they're grown in these 'tables' or trays, and they grow very well. They're high in sugar and really tasty. Here is a photo from a previous season.

A quart basket of ripe strawberries, grown right here in Nova Scotia, on October 23, 2025. These are grown in trays inside large greenhouse tunnels and are day neutral berries, meaning they will bear until a freeze.
