Vicki Winters

Somehow the portrait came to life, or so it seemed. She looked at David then at Barnabas. She could see that Barnabas was gazing up at Angelique’s portrait with a look never quite seen from Barnabas before. She paused, “Barnabas, do you smell that? It smells like jasmine.” 2/2

Vicki held her candle up a bit higher and the room became ever so slightly brighter. The light reflected off of her portrait and there was a twinkle in her eyes as she gazed up at it. 1/2

She looked at David to hear his response. After all, her ghost always appeared to David more than anyone else. Sometimes though it was scary the way Vicki felt so close to her. 2/2

Victoria gently took the drink and thanked him then took a sip before speaking, “Barnabas, David isn’t the only one…to feel Josette’s presence. I have as well recently.” She looked at David then back at Barnabas, “I don’t know…sometimes I feel her presence as if she was in this room.” 1/2

“It seems strange to talk about Barnabas Collins to you, him being your namesake.” 2/2

Vicki took a seat and shook her head, “No thank you, I don’t want you to go to any trouble.” He motioned to David to take a seat, “Barnabas Collins must have been a very special man,” she let out a chuckle. 1/2

He looked up at Barnabas then back down at David, “David would you like to accept Cousin Barnabas’ invitation?” He placed her hand on David’s shoulder, “As long as we are not imposing,” he replied to Barnabas in a tender tone. 2/2

Vicki looked sympathetically at Barnabas after a dear friend of his fell ill, “Oh, Barnabas I’m sorry. I hope they are doing better.” She offered a smile before turning her attention to David. She thought maybe David being with Barnabas for a bit might calm his thoughts about him. 1/2

She felt awkward as her eyes met Barnabas’ gaze, “I’m sorry for just barging in like this. David still seems to consider this a playground.” 2/2

“Hello Barnabas, I hope we didn’t disturb you,” she nudged David, “David I’m sure he had a good reason why he didn’t make it.” Maybe David was holding a grudge? She wasn’t sure. 1/2

“Did it ever occur to you that Barnabas may be busy with business in Bangor?” She asked before the candles caught her gaze. She noticed David jumped when they brushed shoulders and gently laid a hand on his shoulder. 2/2

Vicki couldn’t help but get a laugh at David’s attitude, “David, you do realize that people have jobs or sometimes are just busy with life?” When they got to, and walked inside the Old House she took a glance around to see if Willie was there. 1/2

She looked at David and then the door to the Old House, “Even with the key, do you think it’s a good idea. Barnabas could be busy.” 2/2

Vicki strolled along as she tried to keep pace with David, “Well, that’s quite a switch,” she couldn’t help but laugh, “I’m glad you’re not breaking in anymore.” She stood by him and watched him get the key. 1/2

“Well, why don’t we bring her a fresh, thriving flower?” She smiled as she watched David rush to get ready, “Ready when you are, David!”

“Burke, I won’t be long,” she finished buttoning her coat, “Let’s go, David!” 2/2

Vicki put the wilting flower in the vase and gave Burke a smile, “I’m sure Burke won’t mind if I go with you to see Josette. I owe her so much, after all, she helped me when Matthew Morgan was keeping me prisoner.” Vicki got up and cleared the dishes then grabbed her coat. 1/2

Vicki noticed the flower, “David, I think this flower needs some water or it won’t have any petals left.”

“Don’t you remember, David? When Mathew Morgan held me captive in the Old House she came to me and told me not to be afraid.” Vicki sat down at the table with Burke and David.

“Why yes, I have David,” she told him with a soft smile. “She was always very comforting and very beautiful.”

Vicki glanced up at Burke and gave him a smile as he walked over with the pancakes.

Vicki took the flower, “That’s a wonderful compliment considering she was very beautiful!” She believed in the ghost of Josette Collins as it had appeared to her before when she was tapped by Mathew Morgan in the Old House. “You know, she was a very special woman.”

She smiled as she saw Burke and David together, “Have you saw her ghost again?” She began to set the table while she talked, “I remember those nights at Collinwood…” a look of nervousness appeared on her face. “Sure I’d love to see the flowers!” She glanced up at Burke from across the room.

“Sure! Come on in! You know you’re always welcome here, David!” When he came in she helped him off with his coat.

Vicki had heard the knocking and immediately rushed to the door and opened it, “David how did you get here? Are you alright?”
