Ricochet vs Jack Perry is the forever feud I didn’t know I needed…
#AEWRevolution
I just wrote a thread inside of a thread that explains how AEW could successfully counter program a future Academy Awards show while simultaneously fantasy booking Revolution 2030.
#AEWRevolution #Oscars2026
In a great move of promotion and blending Kayfabe and real life, MJF says “Fuck the Oscars” and main events the PPV (possibly vs. Kyle Fletcher).
Just imagine the crazy amount of hype that would get. That’s how you counter program and get people’s attention.
Just think about it…
There might be a point where MJF becomes not only one of the biggest stars in the history of wrestling, but also because a major movie star.
Imagine he does a movie and gets nominated for an Oscar.
But.
The Oscars are the same night as Revolution 2030…
Side note:
Maybe AEW should’ve promoted the fact they are counter programming The Academy Awards more.
(Think about it)
A cool way AEW could beat WWE at their own game (pun); instead of focusing on competition with another wrestling promotion focus competition with another entertainment entity.
In conclusion, tonight will be a fun night.
What do you guys think of all of this?
Live entertainment on regimented schedule isnt easy. Just imagine doing a traveling play that can physically break you every day. And on top of that, needing to keep storylines consistent and engaging. Shit ain’t easy.
Wrestling will ALWAYS have its haters and people who don’t consider it legitimate. Whether it’s being viewed as a sport or a form of entertainment. But even those haters are starting to sound dated.
Most intelligent people respect the work and dedication wrestlers (and promoters) put out there.
Meanwhile, wrestling (specifically AEW) is in a great spot. AEW probably has the most momentum it’s had since 2022 and you can see it in the product. I feel more comfortable spending $40 on a PPV I know I’ll be fully satisfied by, than a $30 movie ticket that could be either hit or miss.
The film industry is in a tough spot right now now with low theater ticket sales, AI, the aftermath of the strikes, the Paramount-Warner Bros deal, etc. Plus, it seems people are seeing through the bullshit and realize most of these award shows are just elaborate commercials.
I had a conversation with my roommate (both a casual wrestling fan and mild cinephile), about this match-up. His response, “ I feel like most AEW fans who are cinephiles will watch the PPV over The Oscars.” He has a point.
Sure this might be the best Oscar race in YEARS, but AEW is on a roll now.
The reason I bring up this topic is because both shows will be airing around the same time and both take place in Los Angeles. The Dolby Theater and Cypto.com Arena are a 25 minute drive from each other. So people make jokes about AEW counter programming what feels like all week.
Most times, votes are made to try and attract viewers. Just like how most wrestling is booked to draw tickets. Speeches are pretty much promos, live performances, bitch slaps, etc. It’s still all entertainment at the end of the day. It’s probably a good thing wrestling doesn’t have award shows.
I’m going to be honest, I haven’t been excited of an Academy Awards show since probably 2016.
I know most mainstream media like to make fun of wrestling for being “fake”, but seem to be forgetting that most award shows do the same thing. You can easily compare wrestling booking to award voting.
The Battle for Los Angeles 2026:
I would like to start an open dialogue about the head to head match-up between AEW Revolution and The Oscars.
🧵
I’m a lifelong cinema fan, but my excitement for AEW Revolution is in the stratosphere right now. And I don’t think I’m alone feeling that way.
BEWARE THE IDES OF MARCH!!!
Happy AEW Revolution day!

What movie did you review this time?
The fact that people still have shit takes like this in the U.S. is a very depressing window into the low level of intelligence and high level of gullibility of too large of a section of the American people.
Who the fuck is Griff Garrison
Thanks for the heads up
Facts.
What a WILD time!
That’s how good AEW was in that era. They could have a fuck up like they did on Revolution 2021 and then come back Wednesday, put Eddie and Mox on TV together, and we immediately forgave it.
Yes, I meant Kong…
Typo.
Can I safely assume you already have one of the many Toyota vs King matches already in this wheel?
