I appreciate that they’re low maintenance and don’t take up much space. It is definitely about the cumulative routine though. I also have 88 houseplants and the aquarium is a 165 gallon monstrosity.

I always loved animals, but sadly my energy levels are at capacity for doing a good job for them!

Like… I don’t need to know all of the dominant, recessive, and co-dominant ball python genes… but the research rabbit hole beckons!

Isopods (among other invertebrates and reptiles) are things I enjoy researching and imagining keeping. Alas, I know my daily creature maintenance plate is full with my cat, dog, and fish. It’s still fun to learn about.

I recently learned that Clip Studio can save a timelapse of your process, so I thought I’d try making some short videos. I admit that I’m still a creature of the 2000’s, and prefer still images with long blog posts and giant, threaded conversations. But this was still fun to do. #isopod #enamelpins

I’m working on additional isopod enamel pin designs. To get the most out of each mold, I’d like to do one color variant per design

No worries. I can see how the wording on the dragon pin comment was confusing.

Most enamel pins are manufactured in China, including those with middle-men in other countries. Right now there’s a pause in tariffs which took US to China tariffs from 150% to 30%. Not ideal, but more manageable.

Though having experience with a manufacturer independently might be useful and something I could bring to the table, there are also concerns about what happens when the tariff pause is over.

I’m glad you’re still interested in them though! I really liked the designs that Sin and May made for them!

The pins I’m talking about are ones that I am producing as an independent artist!

The pins with Flight Rising are somewhat on hold. They are something that is produced by the art team and FR as a whole, and will have logistics fulfilled by Hivemill.

Nothing quite this organized! I’ve been trying to do more studies this year so that I can expand my anatomy knowledge. Still unclear how much of it is sticking, but if even a little is retained, it’s worth doing. :)

After discussing it a bit with my manufacturer, we moved the glitter accent from the wings to parts of the cloud/star swirls. That way we can have the details of the screen print and the glitter (in a place where there might be sparkles anyway!) at the same time.

I hope I didn’t overdo it, haha!

In May I received a couple of my isopod test pins, which had one spot color and 4 colors of hard enamel fill. So I feel good about the production process on things that don’t involve specialty finishes! (Need more experience with those for stuff like the dragon pins.)

I’m working on getting some finishing off some isopod pin designs for a project on backerkit.

I have a few species and morphs I’d like to include, but if anyone has any favorites, I’m all ears!

Pin designs of a dragon with swirls of clouds, or air behind it. The artist is asking whether people prefer the night version with or without glitter enamel wings, and this is the example image to show what both might look like.

I'm creating an enamel pin to learn the process and work with a manufacturer.

I wanted to do 2 variants.

I'm stuck on the night variant. The pin will be hard enamel with gold metal. Do you think it looks better with pale gold glitter enamel wings, or with the white enamel wings and spot color?

Thanks! I’m working on some pins, but beyond that it’s a bit unclear. I would like to create all new stuff, but I’m unsure if I’m going to have enough to fill out a table. It might be sparse, but I’m still excited to be able to vend again and have that person-to-person experience.

Some isopod studies from reference. I wanted to get some practice in before attempting to make some isopod pins. Fun fact: Terrestrial isopods have 7 main scutes (plates) before their little butt plates start.
