They aren't imposters as long as they don't pretend to be. But I think the reason that some individuals are trying to look like they are artists rather than ai users is because they know that generating art isn't desired by people in this community for various reasons.

I'm not sure how you would keep that kind of system up to speed without regular re-review of trusted users. Could be quite a bit of labor.

I think the strangest problem is that there's talented artists out there who use gen art in some part of their process and try to hide the fact. They already know the merit of learning and seeing progress. And yet decide to stunt personal growth for a product deemed "more polished"

ARTISTS! You can DISABLE this feature! Protect yourself and don't assume that you're safe if you're an sfw artist!

My last post about llm images seemed to attract the attention of a few gen art accounts that seemed to believe that I was advocating for the use of the tool.
I am not. I'm saying that the scrutiny in the community to hunt down deception is toxic.
Using the tools is still not ethical or creative.

Technically correct

To enjoy art, whether you think about it or not, is to share a piece of a person and how they developed. But sharing gen work is just a pretty image with no evolution of craft or humanity baked in. It's just eye and brain stimulation.

I understand there is an audience that just wants content and media to consume. I'm not the kind of person who thinks I can change minds, but I'd like if those people considered the perspective of what it takes to actually present your lived experience and interpretation of life through art

You're arguing based on my word choices rather than seeing the perspective so I'm assuming you're arguing in bad faith or at least from a perspective that you see art as "content" and "profit" over any kind of skill based on lived experience so I don't think I have anything to gain from this talk.

One literally robs the livelihood of those who have spent years or decades of work to make something unique.
The other is a lie that many self claimed artists don't say whether they use a tool to gen their work and are deceptive to their audience.

It might take that form because there is a deeper loathing at the root of the gen art issue.
That being "your tool uses data that wasn't yours without recognizing or paying me"
And
"You're claiming you have mastered a craft when you simply generate images from a few carefully selected words"

I understand you're framing what you're saying in the context of the experience from how you imagine many people use social media, but the greater picture is larger than that. Users aren't just content to view. Their lives should be considered. Their content matters because they crafted it.

It only serves no purpose if you choose to believe that the only purpose of posting art is for attention or to make people horny.
That might be one role, but it's not the only one.
The act of creating and building a skill and using that skill is not meaningless, it's a human experience.
