Revisited Steven Soderbergh’s SIDE EFFECTS this past weekend; his underseen and underappreciated take on the Brian De Palma/Adrian Lyne psychosexual thriller. And this is far and away one of the coolest shots in Steven’s filmography. #filmsky

Shout is awful. They announced MIAMI VICE (both theatrical and DC) is coming to 4K without an official press release, and now fans are still waiting on it. So I was l dismayed once I heard after that snafu they were distributing the old Woo joints.

So much fun! I like Connery’s ‘80s and ‘90s stuff a lot—LAST CRUSADE being the best obviously.

Preordered @arrowvideo.bsky.social’s upcoming release of Peter Hyams’ OUTLAND, an imperfect sci-fi cult film I’ve always had a fondness for. One of the many films @junkfoodcinema.bsky.social put me onto.

Between this and ZARDOZ, I’m in the bag for my favorite James Bond doing sci-fi.

Perhaps the *closest* I can think of Chloé Zhao. Oscar winner early in her career, mostly known for independent films, has made a Marvel film and is currently attached to a STAR WARS film.

Possibly Greta Gerwig, too. But that depends on what she chooses to do after her NARNIA film. Great question!

Hmmm, the problem I have with answering this question is that one of the things I most interesting about Soderbergh is that he’s one of the few remaining auteurs we have who still make entertaining, yet thought-provoking, genre with reasonable runtimes.
