An all-time banger!

The Fallen Idol: Perceptive study of a child dealing with adults’ lies. Kept reminding me of Ian McEwan’s Atonement & Carol Reed puts us firmly in the boy’s POV via Georges Périnal’s striking high contrast cinematography.
The casual racism in one scene is jarring but sadly reflective of the period.

I really need to see these movies. Each Fassbinder I watch is so compelling and way more entertaining than it may seem.

Fuck, I love this movie so much.

This, in and of itself, is hilarious. Reminds me of when my friend’s dad blind bought a DVD of TROPIC THUNDER and got mad when it wasn’t an action movie.

I loved it so much! A lot of thrillers *try* to capture Hitchcock, but it’s one of the few that really hits his level of wry delight.

It's finally time to watch The Limey

Me too, man. Easily my favorite character in the film.

But we all know she won’t. That’s the sad part.

Her performance in SINNERS deserves a Best Supporting Actress nomination.

My top 4 would be the same as yours, but I’d swap out DOUBTFIRE, which is an iconic role and a film I grew up watching; with THE BIRDCAGE, which is one of my most rewatched comedies thanks to my family.

Either way, his career was incomparable. I love DEATH TO SMOOCHY, too.

Damn, that’s an awesome top 4. These are practically the four pinnacles of his renaissance.
