What movie did you watch over and over as a kid?
A masterpiece of ‘90s cinema indeed. Oh, Canada.
Contrary to popular opinion, it’s my favorite Ivan Reitman film. So good.
Your instincts are correct lol it wants to be both a pulpy action film (and the few action scenes in it are spectacular) and a GODFATHER-style sweeping crime epic. And it’s only successful at 50% of each of those. It is worth a watch, but be prepared for racism and some pacing issues.
Even with its strong reputation, I was still surprised at how enthralling and engaging it is; despite how hard-to-watch it is in parts of course. Very good!
