Workers of the Science News Media Guild will conduct a 24-hour #strike on Wednesday, 11/5. This comes after our members voted to reject the Society’s latest contract proposal. Our members previously voted by 92% to authorize a strike against the @society4science.bsky.social, if necessary.

In the exactly 1 year I’ve worked at @sciencenews.bsky.social, I’ve edited hundreds of stories, moved our team over to a new story management system, helped interns who’ve come and go, and YET the contract negotiations that started before my first job interview are dragging on. That’s a choice!

I'm glad people are still finding my @sciam.bsky.social article from five years ago helpful. Another example of how science saves lives. Stay safe out there, everyone!

Now, more than ever, the work that my colleagues and I do at @sciencenews.bsky.social matters. But as the days go by without a fair contract, we wonder if @society4science.bsky.social values us and our work. Do you value good science journalism?
