Okay, it was murder.
But it was to ease someone's pain.
Okay, maybe a teeny bit of vengeance too.
But it was to keep them from hurting anyone else.
Okay, it might have been mostly vengeance.
For a good cause!

The house. I can't control that.
If it was something inside me, I cling to the notion that it's still me, even if it's me+entity. I think about all the times they appeal to the person, urging them to fight the whatever, and I, perhaps foolishly, believe I could.

I have a villain whose best quality (my favourite, anyhow) is that she has no dark arc. There is nothing which put her on this path, and she's very good at what she does. Unfortunately she died for a while so she's become quite unhinged. There are no guardrails anymore.
Hallo #HorrorWritersChat! It's been a while.
I am Trish, and I write creepy weird silly eldritch-y ghost-y stuff a lot of the time. My villain origin story would be pretty boring, I think. I'm terrible at being bad. I might be an inadvertent villain though. Perhaps I sow mayhem without knowing it?
I screamed so loud my neighbour came to check on me. π

I know a lot of people are boycotting Amazon, which is great, but it's hurting a lot of trans authors.
Trans authors: Drop links to your NON-AMAZON book listings/storefronts.
Cis people: Repost, boost, and, importantly, buy. Part of boycotting an evil corporation is supporting the alternatives.
Trans Day of Visibility. Protect trans folks today and every fuckin day. All the love to our trans fam, we see you, we love you. We will cut a bitch for you. π

I love that for her. I find delight every day in the ghost friends we made along the way.

βBeing dead is no reason to let things go."
This is tough because unrepentant monsters are my favourite.
I do have a character in the current trilogy who was a real dick and has regrets now that he's dead. Shortsightedness is never an excuse, but there may be a slim chance for a half-assed redemption.

Exactly! The best is when someone reads what I wrote and tells me how much they enjoyed the callback to chapter 4 which I added in chapter 25, and it's a delightful surprise to us both.

Though the first time I murdered a character I really cared about was really difficult and I had to go for a walk afterwards.

Hello #HorrorWritersChat! My name is Trish and I write horror that doesn't always feel like horror, but when it does, it does. I like it weird, dark, and fun, with a bit of sizzle on the side.
I am definitely a pantser to the extent that I often have no idea what's happening until it does.
Image shows creepy figures behind a curtain. All text is in the post.
It's today, people! My turn this week to host the #HorrorWritersChat.
Four questions about you and your horror work. 7pm UK time every Wednesday, that's 2pm Eastern for those in North America.
Great list. A friend and I were talking the other day about how Requiem for a Dream is unadulterated horror. And fun fact about me! I asked my mom to rent Watership Down to watch at my 6th birthday party because cartoon about bunnies! A dozen traumatized 6 year olds made for a memorable birthday.
