The prologue is the antagonist POV so I'm very excited to write how they become what they are

Their relationship and what happened between them is why this magical world is the way it is now and why one of my MCs (the guardian) is the way he is. Readers will find out toward the end of book 1 but MC doesn't elaborate on what happened

Maybe it was the witch who was screaming. She wasn’t sure anymore as she fell to her knees, doubled over with the gash in her stomach. Her head felt light and the fiery scene around her became fuzzy as she fell forward, rolling to her back to keep her insides from falling out. Oddly enough she felt no pain, but her breathing became labored and she wondered how many breaths she had left before she succumbed to the darkness again, this time for good. There was no coming back from this. She already felt too far gone, too removed, like she could feel her soul starting to leave her body. She didn’t get all the crystals. She didn’t make it home
