I could, and would, make the case that calling a period "The Renaissance" falls into a similar trap as "the Dark Ages", despite the fact that of course multiple renaissances happened.

The speed at which I suddenly became informed on Malta after the court ruling today was truly impressive. Its hard to focus on research when the world is collapsing and transphobia is growing more and more. I love all my transgender siblings please be kind to yourself in this time.

.. it often feels like pockets of trans communities are miles away with the turbulent seas of transphobia and cisnormativity not letting us feel each others love.

I may not be a premodern historian most of the time, but this paper truly let me fall in love with a manuscript I have never read

- What could a Trans Book History Look Like?... to consider ourselves part of a 'community of touch' with the objects we handle allowing us to share 'connections across time and space' is truly beautiful for a community often living in isolation, despite a rich culture of art and shared knowledge...

Another day on my historiographical research train, another word learnt - between tribadism and codicology my vocab has never been so refreshed!

On a different note J.D.Saragan's paper on trans history in relation to book history was heart warming to read

thats gender queer folk naturally challenge. A lot of LGBT+ culture and communities are based in biological determinism and trying to be included in with the 'in group' rather than undermining the system that determines some identities are less than others

Reading Strykers paper Transgender history, Homonormativity and Disciplinarity is a joy. Its shocking that I knew so little of the Compton's cafeteria riots but also not surprising with the understanding Stryker highlights of Queer right movements trying to appeal to the structures...

Being a historian right now is being horrified by the news but knowing it is important to still bear witness to it. Between the breaking of due process in the US and Israeli soldiers lynching Hamdan Ballal and continuing to commit a genocide, it clear to see Fascism is only getting worse
