Any talk of Republicans' "natural advantage" on this ignores how Democrats ignore their far more significant one, which is passing even a fraction of progressive Democratic policies would solve both these problems naturally. Instead they whined they wanted to deport more people than Republicans did.

Crime is at record lows across the country. Voters have never cared about "crime." They care about feeling scared when they see immigrants and homeless people and have decided "crime" is an easy way to say "make the scary people go away" and Democrats decided the best strategy was to validate this.

What is driving Democrats insane about Mamdani is he is going to win in a way that every single 2028 campaign strategist insists their clients need to do the exact opposite of. Their entire argument is people like Mamdani and Fetterman can’t ever win, except for every time they do.

For all his later sins, I think Fetterman’s campaign is beneficial to the left in that it completely negates this “Mamdani is an anomaly, it could only happen in a leftist city like NYC” argument because 1. lol and 2. Fetterman carried every county of a state Trump won twice.

Personal agendas aside, the Mamdani arc is very similar to Fetterman’s—a widely disdained candidate deemed implausible and unelectable, merely an inconvenience for the anointed lab-grown and tested party choice who was absolutely annihilated when forced to actually campaign against a real person

A variant right-wing party is going to take over the country from these people because they have a sub 20% approval rating now, and they don’t care because the most entrenched powerful members will keep their jobs and stay rich. But somehow it’s not like that with US Democrats. Nope.

I'm sure that's the idea but I don't understand how Trump thinks that works. Even if he could do this (he can't), The top three undocumented-populated states in the US are CA, TX, and FL. The collective loss of red and blue House seats (and electoral votes) in those states would be a wash at best.

The reason the Dems are a failed party is because they have collectively decided that the best policy for any issue is a halfway compromise between a good idea and fascist bigotry, rather than fighting for any sort of coherent ethical framework

Will provided no context whatsoever, but poverty rates via census stats have objectively increased over the last two decades. For crime there’s obviously an exponential number of ways you can pick and choose to support either argument, but it’s down in most relevant cases.

There's a very specific subsection of American liberals that find the most annoying thing in the world to be when the left is correct about something, especially when they were correct about it faster than them. This is why when you seen one of these people snipe at the left, it's best to Google it.

A major reason this pisses me off so much is when I worked for the Children's Defense Fund in 2007, a major campaign at the time was for awareness about 1 in every 9 children in America living in poverty. In 2015 it was 1 in 8. In 2025, it's 1 in 7.

That is, quite literally, poverty getting worse.

Correction: the record year for Americans in poverty was 2014, not 2019. Happy to concede that in the last decade, we have slightly improved conditions to only 12% of all Americans living in poverty, including one in every seven children. Truly, the left should abandon such pessimism.

Will gets tons of undeserved hate on here, but I don’t know what the point of this is. Crime is, in fact, at record lows, and poverty is, in fact, at record highs. I’m not sure why people are choosing to ignore this to fight strangers on the Internet instead of, you know, going outside I guess.
