It’s literally easier than “Buttigieg” and white folks clearly did not have a problem with that one

Obviously many are simply being paid to as they were long before 10/7 but it’s still wild watching them go through three straight years of pageantry of pretending they Just Don’t Understand What Everyone’s So Upset About™️

I know I’m screaming either to the choir or into a void with nothing in between but it’s still just so absurd and insane how many elected Democrats remain incredulously convinced their stance on Gaza since 2023 (and for many far before) has nothing to do with all of what’s happening now.

It’s the reason I can’t really begrudge Amiwala for not accepting the “spoiler” label—Fine is probably doing more to help Abughazaleh’s chances than Awiwala is doing to help Biss’.

I am 100% for RCV but I think Kat’s only chance is this race doesn’t have it because I imagine the bulk of Biss’ second choice votes are for Fine. Biss would likely sweep the second round.

We’re all going to die aren’t we

Fun fact: only ten states have runoffs in primary elections. Illinois is not one of them. In fact, nine of them are former Confederate states! Funny how they all decided to do that!

I think the low barrier for entry makes our politics stronger not weaker, but Abughazaleh is an experienced political journalist and Amiwala is literally an incumbent elected official so unsure which of them you’re suggesting “knows nothing about politics or campaigns”

Honestly, I think she is screwed. The chance to form this type of coalition with Abughazaleh was a week or more ago. The election’s in three days. I don’t think anything will stop Amiwala from being blamed for Kat losing at this point.

How she addresses that is her decision and there’s an argument for whatever she makes, people should not make a surprise Pikachu face if this promising candidate torpedoes her future because she wins just enough votes to give Biss the victory.

Politics is a shitty business and I legit feel sorry for Amiwala, who has every right and fair argument to stay in the race, but also needs to acknowledge that she is not going to win and is absolutely being used as a tool by her ideological opponents to stop somebody else from winning.

Between this and that woke ginger guy it's been a great day for videos of people you look at and immediately know you'll never feel sorry for

This is a good lesson for journalists: Use plain language to state true things clearly.

(This is of course assuming the merger even gets completed before Trump leaves office, something historically not a sure thing for a merger this large, in which case it’s simply dead on January 21, 2029 and everyone knows this, stockholders included.)

I understand the roadblock is (as always) relying on the merely-theoretical will of the next administration, but a statement like this is Exhibit A in said next administration’s case for splitting CBSNN right back up again. If this was a trial Hegseth’s lawyer would have just quit.

"So dumb you think everyone else is dumber" is an honest to god lifechanging concept that I'm going to be saying for the rest of my life and this is really all I can do to document where I first heard it

I know multiple people like this and this is happening explicitly because no mainstream liberal/Dem media figure is forcefully opposing the Iran war, the genocide in Gaza, and explicitly calling out Israel's malign influence on US politics and the only ntl. politicians who do are Rashida and Ilhan

Maine Gov. Janet Mills is one of least popular governors, poll says Her approval is still higher than Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, who she is hoping to unseat in Congress.

(Yes. Least.)

At the risk of stating the blindingly obvious, the problem with this strategy is and always will be that dedicating yourself to convincing everyone your opponent sucks does not automatically make you look good. Platner’s tattoo is not why Janet Mills is one of the least popular governors in America.

2026 is going to be a record setting anti-incumbent/anti-establishment election and in a panic, Democrats decided they can defeat an outsider populist candidate with an incumbent octogenarian and a strategy that now appears to be complaining on Twitter how all the voters are wrong. ‘Kay.

Ask any person in Maine to explain to you why Mills is losing and it can be summarized in posts like this, inherently arguing that Mills is not doing a good job “finding holes in Platner’s campaign” as opposed to, you know, doing a good job explaining why she’s a good candidate.

Platner supporters don't really have a good answer for what happens if he's the nominee and Republicans dump $150 million in ads against him

(Holds flashlight under chin) In the upcoming election, Republicans are going to say the Democrat... is bad (lightning crackles in background)
