And like the worst plagues, it is everywhere. I cannot use a digital medium without it being shoved down my throat. YT summarising my Videos and wanting to write my comments? All advertising being built generated slop? Who in their right mind even wants that future? I see no benefit, just detriment.

Instead of making robots that reduce our society's need to have back breaking labour and exploit the weakest, these big LLMs keep trying to take away the few moments we have at communal expression: Our writing, our art. That is the opposite direction that it should be going in.

As it is right now huge LLMs have been a massive drain on our society: threatening livelihoods, driving up prices, and strengthening fascists via misinformation machines. ML for cancer detection, anti-aliasing? Sounds great. Gigawatts of power and petabytes of RAM for massive LLMs? No.

This is just getting ridiculous. Affordable personal computing is looking to become even more challenging. RAM - for the longest time - was one of the more price relaxed categories of a PC purchase. Not anymore for the foreseeable future. I have no idea how the world keeps on this trajectory.

Fun fact, 25+ years ago for GDC 2000, NVIDIA worked with Quake 3 map designer "Casey", to build a super high polygon map called Area 15 - NVIDIA Bunker, which was a showpiece for the GeForce 2 GTS and id Tech 3 capabilities!

Apart from the fact that this is very obviously a ploy for the Russians to regroup and invade again - because that’s what they did last time! - that 30-50km strip of land is Ukraine’s land. Why SHOULD they give it to a bully that has been murdering their people and kidnapping their children?

Why is a game's language tied to windows display language even? On steam you can choose this typically per game in the management properties of the game.

Game on the Xbox App runs in German, even though Windows is set to English display language, and the xbox app is set to English. What does a person have to do to make Xbox games run in a desired language? This is not working.
