Our brief argues what Plaintiffs have already proved: inter-district racial segregation exists across New Jersey, that these conditions are unconstitutional, pervasive, and interconnected, and that the state has the power to create an integrated school system.

Decades after Brown, New Jersey schools have remained deeply segregated, resulting from statewide policy choices. In 2023, a trial court demanded proof of segregation in every single district as a prerequisite for court intervention, but that's not how constitutional enforcement works.

We’re beyond proud to stand with the ACLU of New Jersey and the Racial Equity in Education Law & Policy Clinic (REEL Policy Clinic) at Georgetown Law in filing an amicus brief in Latino Action Network v. State of New Jersey.

Truly integrated schools require solutions that address segregation between districts AND within them.

Our new community guide for advocating for integrated schools outlines proven solutions + how to advocate for them effectively.

Leaked Signal chat shows NH House education chair advocating whites-only schools The group chat allegedly shows NH House Education Committee Chair Kristin Noble suggesting test scores would rise if students were split into white and

How about “Imagine the scores though if we had schools that were truly integrated and well-resourced” instead?

Contrary to what Rep. Kristin Noble seems to believe, segregation is actually bad for the students of New Hampshire and bad for democracy.

Good news for integration!

Mayor Mamdani has appointed Kamar Samuels, a champion of school integration, as the next NYCPS Chancellor.

It's encouraging to see electeds take action on campaign promises to prioritize desegregating schools.

To Save Democracy, Integrate Our Schools Read more here.

Classrooms are the little-recognized front line in the battle to preserve democracy.

Our ED, @aryamerikaner.bsky.social, argues that if we are to reverse our trajectory, diversifying schools is more important than ever.

Washington's voucher plan is draining state budgets, especially in places that have already said no to the privatization of their education system.

This is federal overreach, and it is threatening kids' right to an equitable, well-funded public education.

Why? Segregated schools often have fewer resources, harsher discipline, and less experienced teachers.

The silver lining? Poverty doesn’t predestinate students to academic failure. We can integrate and equitably fund schools!

Student A: Grows up in poverty, but attends typical schools ➡️only about 6% less likely to graduate on time

Student B: Grows up in poverty AND attends schools with concentrated poverty ➡️ 30 percentage points less likely to graduate on time.

🧵 Poverty doesn’t have to doom kids to fail.

This isn’t accidental. School and district lines are often drawn based on poverty and race.

The solution?
✅ Integrated schools
✅ Full and fair funding
✅ Equal access to teachers, curriculum, and other key resources

🧵
Misconception: Family wealth is the primary driver of opportunity gaps.

Reality: Concentrated school poverty matters MORE than individual poverty.

🚩 Tech is used to monitor more than teach
🚩 Educators of color are often stuck with discipline
🚩 Unrest spikes when leadership changes

Their ask?
✅ Pay teachers more
✅ Share resources across districts
✅ Listen to their needs

We're grateful to hear from the students at the heart of our work!
