So I turned on Apple TV and there was MLS soccer on. In the time that I ate half a burger, there was a sweet goal, a front flip, and a penalty kick for dangerous play.

Imagine if MLB players did flips after every run scored?!

He certainly doesn’t command the same reaction as other closers, when entering a game, imo.

As a Canadian, i apologize for that.

98 mph fastball. Sane game.

They used him in the fifth inning

My layman’s take on this series, especially if the score holds, is that Dodgers hitters simply missed a ton of pitches over the plate, whereas Jays hitters knocked pitches way out of the zone all over the yard.

For a guy with 6th percentile bat speed, Ernie Clement must be the best postseason hitter of all time.

Oh it is. He pitched for Cleveland against the M’s in ‘95.

Yeah, I’m not sure what they’re on about. He was the last out in the previous inning. It’s not rocket science?

Agreed. Off-season officially begins in (checks watch) six days!!!

Yeah, Canzone struggled HARD. JP at .561, and Randy at .575… you need more from those guys. Randy’s career postseason OPS is still .945 even after this somewhat abysmal performance. I’d expect some positive regression next year from him, but JP… sigh.

Yeah, that’s fair. Still, getting 1.008 and .947 from your 7 and 8 hitters, I think, falls into the “aberrations” you described about small samples.

Oh yeah, when your 7 and 8 guys are OPSing 1.003 and .947, you’re going to have a good time!

I guess I’m also pointing out that, regular season, Jays team OPS was 20 points higher than the M’s, whereas, postseason, it was 120 points higher. In other words, Jays offense was better, but played WAY better during the post.

I’m simply saying I would have liked to see the M’s vs Dodgers. No surprise there!

I think we also have to factor in that that some M’s hitters underpachieved (Randy, JP, Canzone) and certain Jays hitters overachieved (Barger, Clement, Kirk, etc)

At least from the pov of career/reg season OPS vs postseason OPS.

I think the M’s handled Yesavage pretty well in game 2, and chased Bieber in 3.2IP in Game 7. Dodgers bats were also pretty absent for a bit. Who knows?

Perhaps a more apt comparison would be JP Crawford >Andy Pages.

Also, M’s chased Bieber after 3.2 IP. This is how I console myself.
