Are you passionate about dark skies? Become a Dark Sky Ambassador with Bears Ears Partnership! Bluff, Utah was recently designated an International Dark Sky community by @darkskyintl.bsky.social, and ambassadors will play a key role in maintaining this designation.

The San Juan River is cared for thanks to Indigenous Tribes, local guiding companies, non-profit organizations, & the Monticello BLM office. We encourage all visitors to pay their fees, as those funds help support amenities, maintenance, & ranger services across the monument, including the river. 🙌

Did you know summer temperatures can hit over 100 degrees fahrenheit? ☀️ Because of that, it’s best to plan your hikes or outdoor activities in the early morning or evenings when temps are cooler! Always bring plenty of water too.

We are still beaming from our first youth Summer Camp session last week.

This first session was packed, bringing 22 local and Indigenous youth out on the San Juan river for 3 days and 2 nights. After departing from Sand Island, we floated down unusually high and fast water towards Mexican Hat.

To avoid confusion and out of respect for the land and its original stewards, we encourage everyone to avoid building or removing cairns. Always #VisitWithRespect 🌱☀️

Have you seen this 3D virtual experience of River House? As part of a larger effort to document ancestral sites within Bears Ears NM, CyArk and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Monticello Field Office have partnered with the Pueblo of Zuni to create a new virtual experience of River House!

Applications now open for the 2025 Bears Ears Conservation Corps!

From June 8–14, Tribal members will gather on ancestral lands for an immersive week of stewardship, survival skills, river time, and cultural learning.

Meet one of our new Crew Leaders, Kendrick Nahohai from the Pueblo of Zuni. As a Crew Leader, he loves when the office is outside, and also enjoys other outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing.

This past Saturday, April 26th, we had our Spring Ambassador Training. It was an immense success & we trained 17 new Ambassadors! 🥾🙌 We’re excited to welcome them into the Ambassador Program. We also had our partners from BLM Monticello, Science Moab & @cnhamoab.bsky.social join us for this event!

We’re launching the Bears Ears Youth Council (BEYC)!

The BEYC empowers youth with real-world experience in Tribal-informed land stewardship, building skills for careers, education, and protecting our homelands.

On Saturday, @visitwithrespect.bsky.social Program Director Semira Crank trained more than 20 new ambassadors, who enjoyed a hike out to the Lower Butler Wash Panel.

We heard you like crypto... and we do too.

But we're talking about cryptobiotic soil — the living crust that holds this desert together! It might not be on the blockchain, but it's priceless.
