🗣️ Talking points: Mining company Pete Lien & Sons and the U.S Forest Service have no right to violate our rights, declare Indigenous culture as an acceptable loss, exclude the community of the process, or endanger the drinking water of thousands of people including the Ellsworth Airforce Base.

The Rochford Mineral Exploratory Drilling Project led by Pete Lien & Sons, is a violation of constitutional treaty rights & religious freedom. RMEDP endangers drinking water in the watershed, including for Ellsworth Airforce Base.

In 2014, 4 tribes raised $9M to purchase back Pe’sla & worked with the federal gov to get the central prayer site & a 2-mile buffer zone into federal trust. This was to recognize the religious and cultural significance of the area and therefore protect it from harmful mining activity like PLS.

“Kill every buffalo you can. Every buffalo dead is an Indian gone.”

The federal government understood the connection between Indigenous Tribes and the buffalo. Colonists, traders, & military leaders understood the life-giving connection insofar as they used it against Indigenous peoples.
