As a kid I only had the book of RtO, I never actually got to see the film until I was much older. But also, to add to the weirdness, I didn't see the original WoO film until after I'd read the RtO book over and over. A friend of mine made drew a picture book of the WoO story to get me up to speed /1

I would suggest that's kind of on Alice. My issue is more that Lillian wouldn't have blown up like that if it were Freddie or Paul or Zainab, all middle class kids, if they had been frollicking around. She'd have been cross, but more likely to talk to them than scream.

Most of these dogs are having the time of their lives. That first dog is pretty overwhelmed though. And the poor old Golden sitting down as the blizzard slowly obscures them from sight is like tragic cinema (although dog-dog is prob quite content)! But otherwise, yes, lots of very happy doggies.

Ah, but it means the producers can avoid paying licensing rights if they WERE to play more mainstream music in the background. Convenient for the BBC that P&S have such eclectic taste in music.

I wasn't even aware of a Daily Mail article until you mentioned it. Dug it out and jaysus it's so badly written with no actual examples to back up. However, it did exactly what it was intended to do: generated predictable engagement from the easily outraged repeating the same tired comments.
