I think they say it in the way people very much want to avoid saying someone is or looks xyz, they think of it as a bad thing to fall out of their worldview of the norm when it is just an existence. I do think they think I look Jewish, but think they also think it is polite to say I don’t

You don’t need to try to say this, ask yourself why someone would feel good if you said that? It is both a neg and an affirmation that you don’t think well of what we look like on top of it

Got told again today I don’t “look” Jewish and the thing is—I do! And in saying this you are implying a negative and that there is both one way to look it and that one way is not good

You may not feel that way, but it is true. This year I’ve heard this more than any in a while and it doesn’t bode

Right, and when I tell people about professional people ghosting your replies and they’re like—well it isn’t most folks right? And it is! Like at this point it feels industry standard to ghost rather than say “we decided not to move forward with this”

Maybe it would be different if I had an agent (food for thought again for me)

Anyway, treat people like people—we’re all just trying to make it all work

Yes! I try to open the door to at least a conversation about rates and to be professional about it all, but even super large corporation type jobs ghost lately

I’d really rather know I’m not their choice! Like we’re all adults running businesses, hurt feelings aren’t a thing

The power imbalance in this and trying to figure out if there is even a chance this could happen (especially if you check in to follow up and they still ghost) make figuring out finances, schedules, and more awful

If we ghosted you like that you’d never work with us, it isn’t a cool thing to do

If you’re an art director and you reach out to a creative first and they take the time to reply, please don’t ghost them even if you decide not to work with them

With work so hard to come by right now having an inquiry that you have to wait and wait on makes navigating freelance very hard

Again it feels really weird to push anything right now. I feel like I may finally have more financial stability in the new year and just need that little push to make sure all my rent, quarterly (and eventually yearly) taxes, Seti's healthcare, etc are covered until then

I sell mini prints and stickers so there is a price range from $4.50 to $55 at most for my largest print and I get that is more than some people might expect (though on par with the market rate for that size), but please don’t drop my art

Nothing like telling someone the price of a print while tabling and having them visibly baulk at it and dropped it dramatically
