If you laugh too hard in my house my cat will think something is wrong and go crawl up onto you, headbutt and meow at you over and over until you stop

When I was in Portugal I saw a lot of statues of Hippocampi and I got in my head then that I would draw one for Monster Mashtober ones day. I’m happy that I finally got around to it

The Hippocampus is a mythical creature with the front of a horse and the back half of a fish. They've been portrayed by cultures from the Ancient Greeks to the Picts and beyond

My take here is partly based on a black-figure amphora from the 6th century BCE that currently is displayed in the Louvre

Though I also suppose financial worries probably butt up against personal insecurities and make each feel worse these days

I think the wild thing about being this far into my career is that you'd think the panic and uncertainties would stop, and that I'd be assured in my skillsets

But alas, life reminds me time and time again that isn't true. Goes to show we all just keep being learners

I totally understand! Unfortunately I had a pretty bad muscle sprain when setting up my last market and when I went to package the rewards I just couldn't spend more time on it sitting (my back hurts the most when sitting) so I didn't write it all down like I normally would, which is my bad

Welcome to my 2025 Monster Mashtober! What is that you may ask? It is my own personal month long challenge with no themes, lists, or rules other than to draw whatever creature I want. So, what monster do you want me to draw?

In this case I told them that this was not a budget I could take on. I explained that I did have to insist on a higher budget for the extensive project they were proposing, and if they couldn't meet that then it was fine—but I had to pass. They lectured me about how I was "wrong", but moved on

Like, I do have access to currency conversions and basic common sense. Please don't lie to me
