Zhuravli, par Mark Bernes ? C'est un classique de la chanson russe, donc il y a d'autres interprètes, mais j'aime bien la voix de Bernes.

Is there a way to block an entire subgroup of #bluesky users based on their URL? I'd like to block all usernames ending in .pds.si46.world, because clearly they're spawning quicker than I can block them manually.

14.08.2025 20:14 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Actually the tomato thing was less jarring than the hummingbird, because it was a plot point that the cook was experimenting with these newfangled things for the doge's kitchen. So I could forcibly suspend my disbelief about it with minimal eye-rolling.
The hummingbird was just... there.
And genealogy is a popular hobby here, so you can easily look up last names from the time and place you're interested in. Instead of giving a particled name to everyone and their dog.
14.08.2025 18:38 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0In some places, babies received multiple names, but generally only used one. In other places, multiple names were the exception, though you can find the occasional Marie Anne.
I looked up the Jeanne Maries in my tree and the death records of the 18th C ones show they only used one name, not both.
See, Jean-Paul before the late 19th century is very unlikely.
14.08.2025 16:12 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I've found vanishingly few English-speaking authors who are able to pick up a plausible name for a French character. I'm not even talking about characterization or culture. Just a name that a French person of the same class and time could have worn.
14.08.2025 15:56 — 👍 4 🔁 0 💬 3 📌 0I once stopped reading in the middle of the 4th or 5th installment of a series because a character said, "I can't wait for the Suez Canal to open, it'll make the journey from Alexandria to London so much shorter."
Another book also had tomatoes and humming birds in late 15th century Venice.
CA:TWS in France. Batroc speaks with the strongest Québécois accent imaginable. Five minutes later, Robert Redford: "he's Franco-Algerian". The whole room about died laughing.

I'm recording 76dB inside and the wall and window are shaking. There's a whole-ass building between me and the concert! I don't want to imagine the people in the flats directly overlooking.

Anyone who says 32C isn't hot can go fuck himself.
