20.09.2025 23:59 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 1Join us at #WildSummitUK on Thurs 9 Sept for our Phabulous Pheasant Show, where we'll be ridiculing the absurd annual release of 50 Million non-native Pheasants & exploring the environmental impacts of this grotesque 'sport'.
Our show runs 1pm - 1.45pm, Lantern Hall.
+ All-day stall, ground floor.
This morning is rather wonderful! I took a stroll along the coast path & saw more butterflies than I could keep track of, heard the water gentle lapping at the rocky shore & the evocative call of a curlew - all while feeling the warm heat from the sun on my back. Great way to start the day!
09.07.2025 08:29 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yes, although was always disappointed not to see more of the species!!
01.07.2025 19:33 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This was such a treasured book for me as a child! I took it on every holiday, desperate to see and identify more butterflies.
Iβm crap at identifying butterflies these days (probably because itβs been years since I looked inside this book) but the lessons of how to use guides like this remain. π¦
Great - Iβll look that up!! (Embarrassingly I didnβt know the species at all, so thanks for the ID π)
12.06.2025 19:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Just when I thought things couldnβt get any more dramatic on the #Springwatch live wildlife cameras, a weevil invaded the ant colony. Itβs been a dramatic battle as the ants have fought to keep the weevil out of their nest for the past 20mins!!
12.06.2025 16:14 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Either Iβve been spending too much time staring at these chicks or this is really starting to resemble a monochrome macaroni penguinβ¦ itβs got the βcrestβ and the grumpy look. Do I just need to get out more?! Thoughts? #springwatch
07.06.2025 09:36 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It was so exciting when my photo was shown on @bbcspringwatch.bsky.social this time last year! Lots of juvenile starlings in the garden again this year but none trying to eat the adults heads so far! π€£

π we love Spud the tawny chick here in the wildlife truck!
02.06.2025 19:07 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Obsessed with the tawny chick today on #Springwatch cameras π It seems to have a young dead rat as a ready meal in its nest, although itβs proving a little big to eat right now!
30.05.2025 13:23 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Best seat in the house for the live show! Another fab evening enjoying #Springwatch from the story developerβs truck watching all the action on the live nests alongside the programme.
27.05.2025 19:59 β π 9 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Am completely in love with the short-eared owls on #Springwatch Fascinating insight into a nest you rarely come across, let alone get a front seat to view!

17.05.2025 17:04 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This is something I never thought Iβd write for Portisheadβ¦ Iβve heard a cuckoo π± I heard it at the weekend & assumed someone was playing a recording. Upon examination of this assumption, Iβve realized this is far less likely than it actually being a passing migrant due to perfect location & timing!
15.05.2025 13:25 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A curious Southern rockhopper checks me out with a somewhat bemused expression (who can blame them?!)
They are such characterful penguins & it was great to spend so much time with them in the Falklands while filming #secretsofthepenguins

Itβs #WorldPenguinDay which seems like a pretty good excuse to start sharing the latest series I worked on as a producer - #SecretsOfThePenguins is out now on Disney Plus.
Have you seen it yet? π§

23.04.2025 18:41 β π 21 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0I donβt know whether I was more surprised to see a hedgehog or the hedgehog more surprised to see me at 0350 this morning! A wonderful wild treat in Portishead π
11.04.2025 15:51 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Back in the UK and I saw two swallows yesterday! Always great to see these birds, especially after a long migration.
03.04.2025 23:28 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Welcome to Super Seabird Sunday where we ask you to share photos, videos & artwork to brighten up timelines. As puffins returned to North Sea colonies last week here they are on Isle of May on Wednesday #SuperSeabirdSunday #Seabirds
30.03.2025 06:01 β π 45 π 3 π¬ 2 π 0Itβs #SuperSeabirdSunday and todays picture is another from Nightingale Islandβ¦ an Atlantic Yellow-nosed Albatross chick! This bird was right next to the path and a little curious as I carefully sauntered past. Check out those huge feet!!
30.03.2025 08:40 β π 21 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0Well itβs #SuperSeabirdSunday and I have news as well as a picture to shareβ¦ this week, I landed on Nightingale Island near Tristan da Cunha π It was wildlife heaven. First time seeing a colony of Northern Rockhoppers, distinguished by long crest feathers that mimic the tussock in which they nest.
23.03.2025 19:34 β π 33 π 4 π¬ 0 π 0They spend the entire time at sea, feeding and resting in the water π± Occasionally they pop up on ice floes or islands, if they are near to them. Foraging often occurs near edge of pack ice in winter though.
17.03.2025 15:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thank you so much! π Will reach out to these groups to see if anyone knows L10!

New research shows seabird chicks that ingest plastic suffer multiorgan failure and neurodegeneration - even if they look healthy.
Plastic pollution is more than an eyesore - it is a biological threat.
